Can The Blitz Be Chopped?

So I'm soon to be a Blitz owner. But until it is delivered all I can do is satisfy my itch by looking at pictures, and watching videos. In doing so it occurred to me that this gun might be more maneuverable with a shorter barrel. But I have no idea how the barrel length might be related to its semi/full auto feature. Has anyone here chopped one down?

Looks like it might be a barrel and shroud, so it might be able to be shortened.

Interesting. It looks like the end of the barrel, or shroud has some spring loaded conration built into it.

I had one of their Galation semi-autos, it used blow back from the end of the barrel to pressurize the shroud and that's what cycled the action.  It was a piece of garbage and was quickly sent back for a refund!  I was really hoping they had gotten away from that type of action.  With as fast as the Blitz will empty a magazine, if they are usig a similar action, it has to be greatly improved!  It will be interesting to hear what you find when you get yours.  Those exploded parts digrams are sometimes had to decypher if you don't have the actual gun in front of you.

I see the part #4958, it looks to be a tube or rod in the barrel shroud, I wonder if it is cycled by air from the barrel? in any case you might want to talk to someone that has taken one apart, Maybe Scott (Motorhead) will chime in if has dealt with some.

I compared the Blitz diagram with the Galation semi-auto diagram and they share a lot of simular parts!  As far as shortening it, I think a lot would depend upon the amount of travel needed to cycle the action.  Probably the safest way to experiment would be to purchase a barrel, shroud and that connecting rod from Hatsan USA and then shorten all three and see if it works.  I would think the same amount of air would be expelled from the barrel regardless of the length of the barrel, so there may be adequate air to cycle it, it would just depend on the travel distance needed to complete the shooting cycle.

Don't know about shortening the barrel but I have the .30 caliber BLITZ and it will shoot 3 mags as fast as you can load them. I have about 300 rounds thru it without a jamb or hick up. Accuracy not bad in semi but in full auto I am not that good yet. Love it and a lot of fun to shoot. It is an air hog though. I only get 3 mags per fill.

Looking at the diagram, it seems that the barrel is already shorter than the length of the air tank..? Not sure.

Actually no, if you look closely there are slashes in the middle of the barrel/rod/shroud. It's a drawing trick to show a longer piece than the paper format permits.
