Deadhead Gauge

A few months ago I decided to get a calibrated/tested dead head gauge because it felt like my compressors were making a bit too much, but I wasn't certain.
I got the gauge from Joe Brancato along with some more fittings.
But, both my Daystate and my EC-3000 were right on the money.
I got some Yonghengs and knock offs and what not, and out of the 3 I tested, all of them were between 150-350 PSI off filling the apparatus too much!
I tested all of my Hill hand pumps, a Benjiman pump, and a couple chinese knock offs. The Hills/Benji were dead nuts accurate and the chinese knockoffs were within 50 PSI.
When I used to run tanks, I had a couple gauges sitting around and I tested those, and it was kind of all over the place. A few read low, a few read high... pretty much -75 to +150 psi difference out of the 8 of them I have.
I suggest folks that tune PCPs to invest in a good deadhead gauge. Having just a chrony is just one piece of the puzzle. Especially if you are looking at starting pressures.
This will help me not only do a better job at tuning, but also help others that might be thinking their compressor or tank setup is either under/over charging their guns.
Now that I know what gauges are to be relied upon, I can even check those against each other once a year or so.

I find that having a good known standard in all things possible is a great idea. I dont follow that all the time but when I can I do.
