well Ed the Stormrider Stock will pull off 25 fpe... but it will take heavier 13g-15g or so pellets to pull it off... So give it a 24"-26" barrel and it Should give around 30 fpe...The Hatsan Flash and Hyra both are advertised at 29 fpe max... The AT44 long is advertised at 35 fpe max in .177...I wish the Maximus was still in stock... my ported .22 hits 50 fpe launching 25g JSB... about 2/3 of that(33 fpe) should be possible in .177 with 13g-16g...
The 2000 psi fill Maximus does only get 6 shots 2% es at that 50fpe level...
MY Mrod and Artemis / Outlaw are both doing well with 18.5 gr slugs, at 900+ FPS 33.xx or so FPE, my DAR 2 is right at 17 FPE at 780 FPS with NSA and a freakin laser.
An Air Force Condor used to be the most powerful .177 a few years back. Single shot though, but accurate and rated highly.
I was thinking recently that a light weight .177 slug gun would be a great squirrel/small game gun. Seems like 25-30 FPE would work well with commercially available slugs and keep them subsonic. I'm sure you already know about NOE and their upcoming .177 BBT.

I think I'd rather have something off the shelf that would shoot slugs and heavy pellets.

There will be a .177 BBT (and a flat base version of it) in the cards from NOE.... but a lot shorter and lighter than the .172 cal.... The same tooling will be used, interpolated out to increase the diameter for .20 cal.... The flat base version (minus the boattail, so 0.053" shorter) will be about 3 gr. lighter in both calibers.... All of these should work in typical airgun twists....Bob
If or when you can find them cheap, a Hatsan BT65 in .177 can easily hit 30fpe, but they're not exactly handy or lightweight. I've gotten 37fpe for ten shots before falling off the curve with Nielsens's 15gr slugs, and 38fpe using the same tune and 20.5gr slugs but accuracy wasn't great with the heavier slugs. Slightly backing off the power to 34fpe literally doubled the shot count so I know there's a lot of air wastage... I should mention that I collapsed three coils of the hammer spring, but otherwise the gun has no power mods. There's just a simple hammer spring adjustment along with massive porting (from the factory). There are probably many other options that can get into the ball park of what you want, which I'm sure would be more refined than the BT65 with better efficiency.I haven't tried the 10.3gr slugs yet, but will probably try them out at some point.
Time to drag out my Lelya 2.0 .177 got the reg set 125b backed off the hammer spring as far as I can. Slinging edgun 10.3 pellets 1000/950 fps. Have zan 13g slugs coming. Needs a work out.
