Hatsan Hydra in .177

Actually, received it on last Saturday of 2022 after ordering on Christmas day... and had been held up a day bout 100 miles away (at union gap) due to snow...

Been super busy with a lot of stuff including fixing pipes foe an older neighbor... did get some initial testing in with mostly 10g and above pellets and slugs... the setting were as delivered... meaning a falling string just like the Flash... that has been shown before...here is one I found showing the 10.3 AA and a Flashpup .177 which is near same... about 7:00 mark for 10.3g string and 8:45 for Monster 13.4g...

 

but mine did not like them at those speeds and I only have the original monsters at this time... also did not like CPUM or 13g K.O.

Does like the Beast, H&N 16g, Seneca domed at 35 yards... and surprise loved the 10.43 Cuda Hunter even at 1063 fps...

But...

Showed up with 100 bar in the tank... pumped it up to 200 bar and dis some shooting when finished pumped back to 200 bar... and in a couple hours was back down to 100 bar... so yep It is a leaker..

after sitting 12 -15 hrs it is still sitting at around 100 bar... any Hatsan guys have similar issue with their Flash or Hydra..?   

just had and fixed my first Mrod .25 fill port leak... was my 2016 not my 2014... cleaned gave new fill port o-ring and no more leak...

Chose 16g Beast to try first grouped well...  just sub 200 bar fill start

this was first groups after rough zero a bit low left with the Beast to test other pellets...

Beast first 3 in one then (on me) next low right. then adjusted to aim high right and got lucky...

Original Monsters next, they want to work... but random fliers... is a five shot group about 950 fps at about 175-185 bar...

then both 13g slugs shotgunned...

for the H&N 16g I repumped to 190 or so bar... adjusted aim high right on last shot...

 Seneca is 5 shots... center of three is the slightly large hole... the high left is on me...

skip past Cpum...

The Cuda Hunters I think that group was at about 155 bar...


then shot the plate groups
 they are three shots groups, but the last Cuda hunter group is five... dot show aprox aim point...left most is two in one and right most is on me... actual aim point was 4th mil dot on center of center cross...

then sent some of the hunters over the chrono from about 130 bar...

The H&N 16g... well stared about right then I pulled the low shot and the last is the only bad unexplained shot out of about 40-50 16g H&N...

Following because I'm thinking this rifle might be a good mule for my high power .177 slug project.

I picked up this one refurbished and with sitewide discount...Like my 2014 .22 AT44L closeout was just over 220$...

I have 2 hopes... that in the future they will sell just the Breech so we can use our own barrels of choice... and can get a Breech with the NOVA/Neutron Star 23" barrel...or just a NOVA/Neutron Barrel...

Had to work a bit to get the BBT 30g to work in the AT44 but the .220/.222 mold sized to .217 work very well... I think sizing to .0005 instead of .001 might help in .177... so oversized sized down would be my first inclination...

here is a .22 Flash with long barrel and slugs... that let me know there is a chance at a longer drop-in barrel...



as stock well... I may find the 13g slugs improve at a different velocity..? but so far the 16g H&N are doing a respectable job... Maybe some NSA or other slugs will do well... lots of things to try still...
