Air tank: New vs used?

Since I got into pcps 9 yrs ago I have used a handpump, now I am thinking about a tank. I have looked at the used tanks advertised for airgunners but they don't seem to be a very good deal compared to the new tank for $625.95( after 10% off ) from pyramyd. Even though the prices are pretty close I see a lot of posters recommend the used tank.

Am I missing something?

Nothing wrong with getting a new tank. That way you get the full lifetime out of it and are able to get the size and hoses you want

I toured a local dive shop asking about scuba tanks. The owner had a nearly new, less than a year old tank that he sold me for a good price. It had all current inspections up to date and he included the first fill as well. I'm sure you've checked around your area to see if there's a dive shop that will fill a tank for you? It can be a problem as some area shops won't fill a scuba tank unles you're a certified diver. ...Just somethin' to think about..

Compute the cost per year of ownership to include 2 Hydro tests on a new tank....now when you see a used tank youy should pay less per year of ownership/life than a new one.

You can get some very good buys on used tanks...in fact I have bought quite a few NIB off the shelf new old stock tanks
