My new 217-30-FN mold

Got it cleaned up and ran a few this afternoon. It's a joy to cast with. As far as my eyes can tell, I didn't have a single reject. I haven't done any accuracy testing yet but I did chronograph a few at an average of 709 from my Cayden. They are dropping just over 28 grains with the longest HP pins.

I haven't cast any for a couple years now but I've still got a full tin of them left, slugs when I cast them usually last me quite a while because I only hunt with them.
They're awesome shooting slugs from my Xisico Sentry's, they also shoot really good from my Crosman/Benjamins however they won't chamber in my C362, they
are way too tight a fit, that in itself tells me that the 362's probably aren't an in house built barrel   For the price of the 362 they're more than likely mostly built
in China is my guess however I've never heard from Crosman whether they make the barrels for them   Yesterday I did cast up a bunch of the 218-25-RF slugs
for my Challenger and did take the mold off the handles and put on the 250-34-RF magnum hunter mold but haven't cast any yet but the pot is full and it will
be a quick run with that 4 gang mold when I do.

Some 50 yard groups with the Cayden. I'm happy. It's really windy here today and the slugs outperformed the pellets at 50.

Mine is sitting idle I need to heat cycle it and run some. I had to wait until the mold handles came off back order to get it but that didnt matter much. I like having more than one set of handles as when I cast I run a few molds to maximize the time I do have. Im up to 5 sets now one layman 4 NOE. One thing the NOE need are tapered wood bits they maximize the arthritic pain in my left wrist. I deal with it by resting the mold on my pot and choking the grip. I will suffer for the quality of these handles.

I'm running Lee 6 cavity handles on all of my NOE molds. I have a bunch of them and they work great. You do need to pin the handles or they will eventually loosen up and come off.


If I'm using 2 cavity molds I usually cast with 2 or 3 different ones at the same time.

I was wrong they are lee not layman. I get confused because I have the layman big dipper kit. I had to pin the handles on mine also and they are sintered steel. The NOE are plate that is cut out on what looks like a plasma table, water jet or the likes.

I've got the big dipper too. Thanks to Wayne I'm casting awesome airgun ammo with it.


I watch for sales on the Lee handles. It's a little ridiculous but but I like having a set of handles on all my molds.

Im working on the same concept for alt least all the molds I run the most often then have some handles I swap out for less ran molds. Maybe one day I will have a set per mold but at 41 dollars each Im not gonna be buying a bunch all at once.

I've stumbled on the Lee mold handles when they were 2 for $40 a couple times. That helps. I think they usually run around $28 to $30.
