Well, after several years of milking the "hobbyist" license of Fusion360 I finally bit the bullet and paid for a year subscription. I HATE the subscription model in softwares like this but decided I'd like to utilize the CAM options they offer. I have been sending files to my small CNC router is a very convoluted way and and am anxious to just post right out of fusion. After recently buying an Elegoo Mars3 4k resin printer to add to my collection of junk that runs off of G-CODE.. it seemed like the wise move.
In all fairness to Autodesk, they have summed up all the wonderful features of decades of CAD/CAM technology is a really nice package. I have used almost every iteration of every similar software except Pro-E, that is some next level stuff and a bit beyond my scope.
Fusion 360 has been very kind to me and I figured I was due to pay the man. After tax, it was about 470.00 for a year. I would rather spend that money elsewhere but now I have incentive to take all this to the next level myself. For anybody looking to get into desktop manufacturing, this is a wonderful time to be alive. These 3D printers coupled with very capable design software has put the future right in our hands. The airgun market is a perfect application for this. If you are on the fence about getting a 3D printer or starting to design parts, I say DO IT. Do it now, you will kick yourself for not starting earlier. Matt, Jeff, and Travis have made a nice place (the 3D gate and the Machinist gate) for us to share and I hope that these gates grow and that the sport benefits from users like us.
You don't need to pay to use Fusion360 and to create files to print from, the hobbyist license is free and very capable. I am in no way affiliated with Autodesk but I have been using their products for a LONG time professionally and personally and am anxious to see what a paid license has to offer.
Cheers,
Mitch

I still use and old version of SolidWorks and 3ds Max for 3d work myself.
But I've been doing 3D work for Games starting way back around 2004!
