The number on the left side of the breech 405608 (?) is the serial number. Looking at this list, https://discover.crosman.com/blog/benjamin-sheridan-product-dates-of-manufacture would put your rifle in 1983. Beautiful rifle, enjoy it!
Nice silver streak! Be sure to keep it well oiled! I highly recommend secret sauce from MAC1, but you can also use non detergent 30wt oil - which you can get at any automotive store - or probably even walmart. I got some at tractor supply. Oil all of the pivot points and make sure they are always moist. do you know how to adjust the sights? if you want the gun to shoot farther to the right, loosen the screw on the left side of the rear sight and then tighten the screw on the right side of the rear sight. that will pull the rear sight to the right. then tighten the screw on the left just until the head touches the sight body again. you probably know this but the black thing between the receiver and the rear sight is the hand guard. The correct way to hold a sheridan while pumping is to hold the hand guard with your non dominant hand at chest level with the barrel pointing up, then with your dominant hand open and close the forearm. I only say this because some people hold the gun at the pistol grip of the stock, which makes it way harder to pump and also prematurely wears the pump arm and linkage. Tim MacMurray has told me that he can easily tell guns that have been pumped that way due to all the wear and slop in the pump mechanism. Have fun shooting - you will love it! let us know how it goes!
Let's see how this turns out.
Two things. First. Try some Benjamin .20 cal. domes. I've never had a Sheridan that didn't love them.Second. 20wt hydraulic jack oil is also a good option for oiling your 'dan.
