Crosman 150, the 600 and the Vigilante/357 platform.

I've been counting the rounds I send through a Vigilante I got. It's almost near it's 10k mark. I got a thread all about it.

The Umarex 357, similar to the vigilante by crosman, and the umarex peacekeeper are pretty fun guns. The sounds and loading of the peacekeeper might be the best noises I've heard operating a co2 gun.

Since I own PCPs, I forgot how fun it is to shoot CO2 guns. Until recently, when I shot one from a friend.

So it is time to build a small collection of CO2 guns, that basically don't really need some extra work shooting nice out of the box and are easy to maintain. It is for plinking only. CO2 guns are affordable, that's sweet.

What are the current top ones for a small collection ?

Some I am thinking of... Crosman 1077, Crosman 2240, Diana Chaser, the QB78. What else ?

If you can find a Sportsman QB77 or a Crosman 160, you'll be golden in the rifle department.  A Crosman 400 would be nice, too.  A Beeman QB78 if you don't mind spending a little time bringing it up to spec.

At least I have nailed one down, that will be the 1077.

I like the idea of just needing one CO2 canister and the overall operation of the 1077 is pretty simple / straight forward.

This inspired me to take apart the QB 78 Deluxe and change thr valve oring. It's nice to have guns that are friendly to work on with novice skills.

Most co2 guns will run on one fresh co2 even if they take teo (leave an empty in). The qb 78 deluxe is one example. I like that it is also accurate, all wood and metal, and has a good trigger for the price.

Ignoring what “use to be”, are really not all that many good solid co2 accurate rifles for sale.


Going to have to put the 1077 and Ruger 10/22 in the “plinker” category, and that only of you get one that doesn’t leak.

On edge about the Fusion2...lot of leak reports.

Diana Chaser might work out for a light weight...I’d buy one if I had a need for a lite-trail rifle.  It’s also one of 3 current .22 co2 rifles (QB78 and Umarex 850M being the others).

QB78D is likely the best deal.

Umarex 850 M2 is nicely made but expensive.  Find they very acccurate, but HATE that they run on the expensive 88/90gr. AirSoft tanks.

Hence I am only looking for CO2 guns as plinkers, because they're mostly only in that category.

The QB78 is definitely a candidate too.

Where I see the 850 Magnum not as a plinker BTW. Though to 'expensive' for my needs. There is 12gram CO2 adapter for the 850 btw, as you might know.

Bill that's one of the guns that Mike at FDAR is supposed to be getting soon from Xisico, I've been watching his website but there's probably a good chance he might have some parts for them

Look around for a used Benji Discovey , esp in .177 . Bulk fill for lots of shots.

Get at least one semiauto BB pistol.
Fun with pop cans and marshmallows in a pond.

For fun as Earl was saying: Springfield Arms 1911 Military Spec co2 BB At PA for $109 or if you would rather have a pellet Dan Wesson Valor $120. But it only gets 3 1/2 stars.

Someone mentioned the Crosman Vigilante. Shoots BB's and pellts. Or the Cx Triple threat. $55-85. For the money the Unarex Brodax is good pistol. BB's or pellets. $35

Umarex Walther CP 99 Compact co2 BB blow back, lock back on empty, metal silde, safety/de-cocker. $59 at PA bargain and two pck spare mags $18. $9 per.

For a lot of fun KWC UZI full auto/semi. It and a spare mag are high and I have a 12" mock supressor for mine.

Got all these and they are fun.

Lot of it depends on your idea of accuracy….co2’s really aren’t normally long range/high energy rifles.

One lucky group on center doesn't mean much other than you got lucky. Average of 4 5-shot groups tents to be more reliable.

C02 is so affected by ambient temperature. This fluctuation will ALWAYS affect POI and accuracy.
Bottom line, controlled shooting environment results in consistent results at the target.

Now I just need to decide whether to keep or sell the 78 as well as the daisy cmp avanti with diopter peep. This ar with good peeps might replace both rifles for me in one fell swoop.

You're going to love the AR. I have the AR 2078B side lever and the AR 2078 with thumbhole stock. Right out of the box I tool the sights off, slid the brrel weight up flush with the muzzle and scoped them. Nice guns.

On second thought the Walther CP 99 Compact blows back so hard it's kind if hard to shoot. Did better with my non-firing thumb in the front of the trigger guard holding it down on the rest. Other day it seemed seemed to shoot okay out the window of the man cave at cans.
