benjamin hand pump rebuild

does any one know of a place that sells a rebuild kit for the benji pump other then crosman ? ive been reading the horror stories of trying to get the proper kit to rebuild the pump with and really would like to avoid that. but havent found a list of oring sizes to get or any place other then crosman that has rebuild kits..

well i think the horror stories you refer to are the pump exploding stories. do NOT use motor oil to lube it.  otherwise KABOOM.  and we like you in one general piece, so dont do that.  the ones with real knowledge that arent exhausted will chime in..... currently 4:01 AM, one more hour then it will be my first 24 of the season, yippee?

most deff will never use motor oil, but the horror stories are more like 1st parts order for the rebuild kit came with 11 orings instead of 13 and only 2 of the orings fit. then it was another wait for another kit that was supposed to contain the proper orings had the same ones from the first order...

Yes, give Duane at SunOptics a call and he'll send you a rebuild kit with complete instructions.  He's a great guy to deal with and will make sure you get everything you need.  

I have his phone # somewhere in my files but if you do a search you will find it as I know I've listed his contact # a few times, as have other members.

I have rebuilt mine with o-rings from the local ardware store. Its ony the main o-ring that goes bad I just get one close to its size.

thats the guy i was reading about who sent out 2 orders promising the 2nd one had all the parts including the rubber ball.. the guy never got all the orings in the proper kits nor did he get the new rubber ball... i just want to have a kit on hand already for when the pump goes out.. figured i might also attempt to polish in the tube all the orings ride on also red that was not done by sun optics and is what leads to rebuilds... but if they got their stuff together id be more then happy to order a kit from them..its either that or get a hill pump but 289 for a pump is a little hard to swallow, not as much as not being able to shoot the disco...

The main o-ring that fails is size 007 that i got from the oringstore.com.
I found after i honed the tube it runs in fixed the problem of only lasting around 700 rounds to over 2000 and still going.
For lube im using silicone grease from best hadware.
Note get the viton o-ring.

that should be a sticky for disco and mrod owners who use hand pumps.. i will be writing those down and visiting lowes and home depot to get the orings to have on hand

how do you like that axsor ?

i dont see myself getting a mrod or any new pcp's for awhile so ive been throwing around the idea of either a axsor or hill pump or a small tank setup but anything less then 30 fills from a tank i dont see worth it for a disco cuz of how easy it is to pump to 2400. i think a tank big enough to handle 30 refills would cost more then a axsor or hill pump but im not educated enough with tanks figure out sizes and using that pcp cal. in the library i cant figure out how liters or whatever a tank is.

well dude that benji pump break down for the orings is a HUGE HELP for a lot of people...deff worth i a high five and a thank you for posting it.. its been saved on my pc and im going to start looking up the viton orings if their better then standard orings... also the tube that needs to honed and polished its the inside of the outter tube when the pump is assembled, the one that says benjamin  or is it in the inside of the smaller metal tube ? havent had it apart yet so im a little unclear as to which tube to polish and what would be the proper grit paper for it ? like leather piston seals you want to hone with 600grit and for the syn pistin seals 450 is best.. with the pump would it be best to for as close to mirror shine as i can get ?

I can sell you an Axsor it needs some work, it still pumps air but it's a bit weaker than it should be

It is the small tube inside the larger one you want a cross hash pattern to hold lube.
