mellonair bolt issue

i bought a long probe bolt from mellonair.com, i like the handle that came with it but ive got some kind of funky cocking problem that appears to be isolated to the mellonair bolt handle..

with the long probe bolt and the stock disco bolt handle the cocking is the same as the stock disco bolt, but when i put the mellonair bolt handle on the long probe bolt i get a lot of resistance to start cocking and all the way back untill its cocked. once cocked it returns to the locked position with as much effort as it did out of the box. but i really have to pull back on the bolt handle to get it to cock with the mellonair bolt handle.

its weird and getting to me, ive had the bolts in and out and swapped so many times tonight i can do it blind folded. has any one had any kind of issues like this with the mellonair lone probed bolt and bolt handle ?

im about to tear it down and measure the bolts to see if maybe the mellonair bolt is slightly undersized causing weird angles and rubbing when its being cocked, but it doesnt do with the benjamin bolt handle on the long probe bolt

Sounds like it's binding when it's fully screwed in. I had a bolt handle that did that I had to trim it some.

I have also had a bolt handle do that once. The threads were so long that when screwed on all the way it came out the other side of the bolt and hit the inside of the breach. put the  handle on the bolt out of the gun and check to make sure the other side is flush, or sub-flush.

Ditto to the bolt handle thread or screw interference, if it's too long or doesn't have a shoulder to stop the thread engagement across the bolt, it will protrude thru the other side and rub against the inner face where the bolt slides back and forth. Had this on my 2240 and the 1377, no problem to fix it.

I checked for that yesterday, it was the first thing that came to mind. The bolt handle while it does have longer threads does not stick out the otherside when fill screwed in

Does the bolt have a burr or a sharp edge on the back face?.... It may be digging in when under the load of cocking the gun on the back stroke....

thought of that as well so last night i took the mellonair bolt handle off and polished the back face of the bolt... full screwed in the back face of the bolt handle is recessed in the bolt a little when fully tightend. i might try chopping a couple of threads off the bolt handle and then rethreading the bolt handle

happened with my mellonair hollow probe bolt. i just unscrewed the handle and ground of a couple threads

well i went to town on the bolts threads with 100grit sand paper for about 10 minutes took off  threads and now it cycles just fine. when i screw the ma bolt handle in the stock disco bolt since it was out of the rifle it appeared cleared after the first time i ground some of it down but i guess i t was still just to long..

gonna have to do it again as im going to order the 3/4 knob
