Not many threads I'm seeing on the new gauntlets!

I just got mine a week ago. Was initially unimpressed. I got the Gauntlet .30 and if you don't know it was very hard push the pellets in with the bolt probe because they didn't lead the barrel correctly so ammo would engage with the rifling way to early. (To tight) Also it was leaking from 3 different spots.Both Burst disks,& fill nipple. My 2 other gripes are that bolt doesn't have a detent when in the forward locked position so it can flop and bounce freely. Would like to fix that. and FINALLY the paint on the shroud and the finish on the tank is so thin! Rubbing it on crayon will leave a scratch lol. I'm definitely gonna paint it with something more durable...

 Those were my cons... After i did a DYI Lead on the barrel with drill and bit that was closest to the barrels mouth Inner diameter. (Wich turned out surprisingly well) the pellets seat like they should. I tried to only drill about a half an inch down the barrel being careful not to take to much metal off the mouth so the probes o-rings can still seal!

I sighted in my red dot a few minutes ago at about 20 feet. And it was stacking the cheap vortex pellets I have. I was impressed about that. I see. A vid on YT of a guy basically one hole 5 -10 shots at about 50 yards with this gun. I also polished and adjusted trigger Wich I really like now (except the side to side play) it's probly less than 2 pounds and very smooth now...  Here's a weird thing: when I first got it, when I would cock it it would get hard the last 1/4th of the way. And I cocked it with the safety engaged and once it got to that part it was tougher so I forced it back and it clicked. Every since then it hasn't been hard that last 1/4th bit back. Hmm maybe it just had to be worn in.

Anyway what do you guys think about it so far? Seems like everyday I like it more and more.  Any mod suggestions or thoughts? I'm think about getting a externally adjustable reg, and setting the output to 2500-2700 psi instead of the 2900 it's set at for the 30 cals. Any cheap moderators? I really like the adjustable hammer spring, gonna try to make so that I don't need a Allen wrench to adjust it   

Dispite Umerex really dropping the ball on the barrels! And not using a sidelever instead of a loose clunky bolt I still I see alot of potential in this airgun. With all the available parts from the original gauntlet & the popular ninja bottles and regs.

I have the .22 version.
The first one I got was a leaker. I sent it back.
The replacement held air, but it wasn't without it's problems.
Every single screw, and I mean every single one was loose!
I went over everything from the bolt, to the rail, to the screws that hold the action into the stock.
I adjusted the trigger and really cleaned the preservative gunk from the bore by removing the barrel and cleaning it from the breech with a cleaning rod, a nylon brush, and Ballistol. then I pulled a bunch of patches through it with my Patch Worm until they were clean. I reinstalled the barrel. I also installed a Hajimoto High Performance Air Stripper, Baffle Stack, and vented the shroud and added a defuser.
I found the only projectiles it likes are the JSB Redesign 25.39gr and the FX 25.39gr. Every other pellet is inconsistent with flyers.
The FX Hybrid slugs shot OK, but every other slug I tried didn't shoot well. I tried a dozen different ones of various weights and diameters. Like you, I had trouble chambering a lot of them.
The 25.39gr pellets shoot the best. They are going about 905 fps for 46 ft lbs, and a bunch of shots on a fill. I have never really tried to see how many shots I would get before it would fall off the reg. Over 50 for sure. Probably close to 70 I would guess. It will get 1/2" to 3/4" 5 shot groups at 50 yards depending on the wind. It would be a great gun for someone who has access to pesting on a dairy or a livestock operation. You could setup some kind of hay bail blind and pick birds off all morning long at will without refilling your air.
I'll be honest. I'm not a fan of that bolt either. I'm very disappointed they didn't make it with a side lever. I'm also not a fan of Umarex's lack of quality control. I have seen several videos online of guys trying to chamber slugs, especially in the .30 G2. They almost had to smack the bolt with a hammer to get the slug chambered. Ridiculous!
I really can't say I recommend the Gauntlet G2, based on my experience with it. If they make improvements to it, then, we'll see. Just my .02

Yea man I hear you. I had to tighten a bunch of screws aswell. When ever I get a new gun I inspect it anyway exspeccially the air tube. But on this one I didn't check the airtube bcuz I thought "ninja reg and tank, they can't screw that up" lol. They were loose.

 Next payday I'm gonna pick up some NSA slugs to try out. I did crony it with the hammer spring adjusted to the lowest setting with 48.6 grain pellets and got 67 fpe Wich is cool, I do like being able to adjust the power. Haven't cronied it at max power but judging by the sound and penetration it's over 100fpe.

I wouldn't recommend it to a beginner at all. But now that knw about the gauntlet platform, if I see another G1 on sell for $250-270 like it was on Amazon a month ago I might pull the trigger on a  22 or 25. Bcuz I do like the platform.

Does the g2 .22s have the hammer spring adjuster on the back like the 30's do?  Also I gotta get me hajimoto magazine for more shots. Are you gonna live with the tight bore or you gonna get it reemed? Its probably more of an issue on the .30 cal.

Almost got one until I read this. I don’t want to play QC TECH when I buy a gun. QC should have been done at the dealer. I used to be a motorcycle tech, if I sent off a new motorcycle with every other bolt loose believe me I wouldn’t have a job long.

Only the .30 G2 comes with the hammer spring adjuster out of the box. I could get a Super Tune Kit from Hajimoto that would allow you to adjust the hammer, but I decided to just call it done and shoot it like it is with the 25.39gr pellets.
I have a G1 .25 that I modified with a 22 cu in tank and a bunch of Hajimoto parts along with opening up the transfer port.
It shoots great! I get 55 ft lbs with the JSB King Heavy Mk II's. It is accurate and hits like a hammer!

One of the rifles I secretly want to try.

Look over at the 60 foot pound .25 and .22 slug shooter, and realize that I hardly ever shoot either of them...and that the .30 would eventually sit in the corner equally unshot. Guess the important part is that they are still with me, so I do shoot them occasionally or I’d have traded/sold/transformed them by now.

Still want a G2 to play with….and realize all airguns are basically “toys” to be played with.

Am a problem solver by nature, so as long as it held air, could solve other issues it might have.  Would be a lot cheaper than the alternative .30’s and I’ve massaged other cheap guns into high accuracy without breaking the bank. Would be a challenge, but likely little used after sorting out.

Sure, it’s as long as garden hose and as heavy as a boat anchor...likely as loud as an air raid siren too.  NOT one I’d take on walk-about, but likely would see some field use from a truck tailgate or a Jeep hood.

I didn't wanna blame PA but this is 2 of 3 guns I got from them that had issues new. I won't ever be cheap again, I'll definitely do the 10 for 10. But I think they should atleast check the guns they sell for leaks. Now I'm sure they would be helpful but I'd rather fix it then send it back. I don't have that much patience.

If I had a do over I probly would of chose a AEA standard .30 24" barrel with a regulator. But this one is growing on me. And Ribbonstone I'm the same way. I buy airguns and spend more time taking them in and out of storage and tinker than I do shooting them. But they do bring me joy.

Evidence of past experience is that I won’t….if I’ve resisted the initial urge, then I’m generally safe from buying another air gun that I know won’t see a lot of use.

Are some things about the G2 that make sense to me.

Regulated, but with full 3K air performance (by using a higher than 3K bottle).  Start with a 3K rifle, and the regulated air pressure has to be less than 3K.

Bottle is detachable...I wish it had a little ON/Off between it and the rifle to be able to detach the bottle and cure any rifle problems separately.  A gauged on/off used on QB HPA conversions has saved me a whole lot of work over the years.

It’s huge.  That may not be a bad thing for a bench rifle as weight generally is a natural stability and length doesn’t matter in that type of shooting. Can’t see the G2 as an all around rifle, but if planning to stay on one place and shoot (either bench shooting or critter-ambush), see no disadvantage (and a possible advantage).

Hey I wanna polish the hammer and tube up today because it gets rough sometimes. My question is do any of u gauntlet owners have any success removing the air tank without degassing it. I rather not degass it if I don't have to. I'm pretty sure the front screw that holds the breech down also holds in the valve so I know I have to degass that part.

I would degas it. Play it safe.

Yea you're right. Can't cut corners with these things for sure. just thought since they have the spin on ninja tanks maybe I could save that air so I wouldn't have to pump it back up.  Compressor don't fail me now.

Definitely degass. The reg threads aren't designed to be unscrewed at that high of pressure. You gall them and end up destroying the reg/bottle connection.

Hmm no spring, pin , or ball in this regulator. I guess it really doesnt need it since it's continuously open. And im positive it didn't spring out when I opened it.  spent like 30 minutes checking the floor lol. This is my first regulator so I really don't know if this is cool or not. It should still function correctly right? Bcuz I'm sure that's how it came.

I polished up the hammer and bolt probe up to almost a mirror finish. Using sand paper and mother's aluminum polish. Put it all together and it seems like the reg is no longer working. There is no way I gained 25 fpe from polishing up the internals. So I'm thinking it's acting like an unregulated gun. With the hammer spring all the way backed out I'm getting 85fpe B4 I was getting 68fpe. I'm looking for a post explaining exactly how these ninja regulators work, because it's so foreign to me, I can't imagine how to fix it.
