Help with scope ring height for RAW HM1000x

Hi all,

Well, I decided to take the plunge and put my name on my RAW dealer's order list. Twenty weeks sure is gonna feel like forever.

So, I am occupying myself with things like.........scope rings for it.

I am wondering if some of the folks with experience mounting scopes to the HM1000x might be willing to share some of that knowledge.

I have some rings in mind. I already have a decent scope for it.  ( A Vortex Viper PST2 ).  I just have no idea what height of ring to get, in order to have the magazine clear the scope.

The magazine will be left side load.

The scope is a 50mm objective, with a 30mm tube.

I don't mind if it ends up a little bit on the "too high" side of things, as I have a pretty long neck. Looking forward to the adjustable cheekpiece of that LRT stock.

Any suggestions are very greatly appreciated !

You need Sportsmatch high adjustable rings or FX adjustable high mounts.
I have my RAW with dove tail. FX no limit high mount work good with my Pst gen 2

There are rings that are fully adjustable for a lot less money, look around. Can buy a lot of pellets with the difference in money. I'm with your scope choice, I have one and like it.

Thanks for the replies.

The reason I went with these rings is past experience with them, and the quality of their construction and warranty. I like the idea of Quick-release rings to make maintenance on the rifle abit easier.

To be honest, I haven't considered adjustable rings for a few years now, after some bad experiences on my rimfires back then. I can't remember the brand, but they were awful. I have come to appreciate "simple", but well made gear lately. But I will definitely have a good look at anything you folks suggest here.

 If the scope has a side focus, adding a wheel would  not be an option as the mag loads from the left, medium height rings typically leave enough room to insert a mag.

Since you bought a Vortex scope, why not Vortex rings?  Their US made Pro series rings are excellent quality.  I'm using the high height rings and there is a ton of space for the mags (although I only single load).  I attached a picture so you can see how much room there is.  I would think the medium height rings would also leave enough space for the mags.  Since there is already 20MOA of can't built into the rail, I didn't find adjustable rings necessary.  I'm only about 10 clicks from scope center with a 25 yard zero.  I haven't had to adjust my zero since I originally set up the rifle many months ago.  It's a great combo.

Gerry, CONGRATULATIONS on ordering a RAW! Like Zack said above, Vortex Pro series since you will be mounting a nice Vortex scope! I'd opt for medium to high rings depending on your cheek bones plus you want to make sure you have enough scope clearance for mag insertion and might need high rings if you use a scope parallax wheel like I do but I also purchased right load mags. The comb is adjustable on the stock so you have lots of leeway for a good sight picture. Must make sure you have plenty of ammo BEFORE it arrives! LOL! What caliber did you order?

I’m using FX Medium / High adjustable rings on mine. I’m not a fan of quick detach rings. Besidesit only takes 15 seconds longer to remove and or mount standard rings with an Allen hex key in the very rare incident you need to remove the scope.

 Thanks for the suggestion of the Vortex Pro series rings.  I really like the look of those ! The photo definitely shows the magazine clearance I am looking for.  (Thanks, Zack.)  And best of all, I can find those Vortex rings locally.


 I ordered the RAW in .22 caliber.    I do intend to eventually try to tune it down somewhat. The JSB 25-grain pellets it apparently is tuned for are getting very hard to source here. I can find the JSB 18 grain ones fairly easily though.

 Doesn't look too difficult of a rifle to adjust.  Would ideally like to get the JSB 18-gr to around 44/45 ft-lbs. But it's way too early for me to start going that technical about it.  Need to settle in and get comfy for the painfully long wait now for the rifle. But at least I have the rings all figured out.

Gerry, I too have mine de-tuned to shoot .22 18gr JSB @ 950fps for 36ft/lbs...much cheaper than shooting the 25gr! Hope you get yours soon!
