Quote from: wll2506 on July 12, 2022, 09:12:38 PMHey guys, does the Vantage have the same powerplant as the Summit Ranger ?Thank you, wllThe Vantage has the original Nitro Piston power plant (to the best of my knowledge) and the Summit Ranger has the NP2 power plant. I believe they share a similar stroke or possibly the same, but the NP(1) system has a 25mm piston while the NP2 has a 29mm piston. Also, the NP2 gas ram body is inverted from the NP gas ram (unless they've changed the gas ram orientation in the "standard" NP guns...?).

The Vantage has the original NP gas ram and the Summit Ranger has the NP2 gas ram that has the inverted configuration.Long term storage on Vantages is barrel down and long term storage on Summit Rangers is barrel up.

Good to know. Thanks!I shot both Summit rangers this evening. I could not repeat the groups I shot a few days ago with the .22 but the .177 shot very accurately out to 65 yards with H&N Sniper mediums and Crosman pointed pellets (no wind). I also managed some 100 yard shots shooting at snags in the river but the groups would have been about nine or ten inches. Compared to some of my other cheap springers the trigger is pretty good and makes for a smooth follow through.
@A.K.A. Tommy BoyTom. I just bought two of the Hammers 3-9x32AO scopes, I think they will be a good fit on the Vantage ---- Thank you for the info :-)wll

Also check for scope movement inside the rings. If it doesn't improve then try cleaning the barrel real good, then shoot about 100 shots thru it to re-season the barrel. My Summit Ranger is pretty consistent and it has not been pellet picky.I've shot Hades pullets thru it, as well as H&N FTT, Gamo Red Fire, JSB's plus various others etc.Best Wishes - Tom
Sorry to hear the .22 didn't perform great. Hopefully it's something simple, maybe one of the things Tom mentioned to go through. The only other thing I can think to check is the barrel pivot bolt for tightness (snug). If nothing works out, I guess try open sights to see how things go. Good to hear the 177 is doing well, so not all bad news.
