Pellet Selection

I have two of the newer Gamo rifles, a .22 Silent Stalker IGT and a .177 Silent Cat I am a fan of the whispers obviously. I was curious about what pellets folks were getting the best accuracy with in their newer Gamo guns. I don't have a grt 4 trigger yet in either so maybe i'm posting this prematurely. I usually shoot at about 40 to 70 yards with about 1" groups or less. I'm interested in both target (groups) and hunting performance, just wanted to know what people were having luck with. I like the gamo wadcutters the best so far and CPHP's. I love both my Gamos and wanna buy a cfr with a gas ram..........i'll keep wishing they'll make one

If you like your Gamo's......Look up Shadow (Ed) on these forums
and set up a "Tune" by him. It (they) will come back different rifles.
He will make you love your Gamo's.

my bigcat gace pretty decent groups at 20yrds using rws superhpoint my bigcat is a .22 tho

I may be wrong, but aren't 1" groups at 40 yards exceptionally good? I dunno if you could get better, thats pretty darn good..

for a springer ya id say 1in groups at 40yrds is good enough to leave the rifle alone and just keep shooting the pellets that gave you that group

I can almost guarantee that a GRT will shrink your groups to 3/4".

1" groups at 40 yards is super for me.  *(&^ I'm not the best shot.  I get 1" groups at 15 yards.  I can do that at 20 yards if I concentrate.  But no way I'd be doing 1" groups at 40 yards yet lol.

i was shooting the Gamo rockets last nite. those things are freakin killer. they are very accurate and hit very hard

I had some leftovers that do very well in the gamo igt i have.
rws meister kugeln flat heads 0.91 gram
and 1 gram gamo diabolos 0.9 gram
Both fit snug, and are straight shooting pellets (indoor, 5 up to 12 yards)

I also have a charlie da tuna trigger, it is point, aim, shoot and 'robin hood the pellet on the previous pellet' very often.

The nice thing is, having begun gas-ramming with benjamin trail np all weather that is now replaced by a remington npss, the much lighter gamo silent stalker igt is somehow much more in balance, does not move as much 'in shot', and personally it lays more comfortable in hands, although with all 3 rifles i put my thumb on top because the thumb-hole is 'pushing my hand down', hole is not high enough.

Are the Rockets the pellets with the steel tip or ball? Not related to the PBA &^^&-ola right?

I have the IGT SS in .22.  The pellets I have found to work in my gun are............


#1) JSB 18.1 - shoots ~620 fps.
#2) Crossman 14.1 pointed hunting. - shoots ~720fps.

Both of these give less than 12fps variations and group dime size @ 25 yards, 5 shots.  The JSB is about 1.6" @ 60yards.  The Crosman's don't seem to group as well at the longer distances.

I took me a long time to get to these groups but now I can pick up the gun anytime and shoot it well.

No luck with any of the H&Ns, the head seem too tight and they will not group in my gun.  Also, I gave up real fast on the Gamo brand pellets as some were tight and some would fall through barrel and just drop out the other end!  That includes the rockets

if you want better consistant pellets like cphp pellets gett he benjamin discovery pcp hp. same shape, size and weight of the cphp but the sizing is a *(&^ of a lot more consistant
