Polishing NOE HP Pins

What is the best polishing compound/material for the pins? I'm trying 20:1 and the slugs won't come off of the pins without pulling them off by hand. One had a fat spot but I got it down with a drill and some worn out sandpaper. They 'feel' smooth, but clearly could be smoother.


I also tried some 10:1 with a bit larger diameter on the slugs, but still not quite enough for my Eagle Claw which leaves light rifling marks on .250" slugs. Hopefully with some powder coat they will be large enough to shoot accurately, but I might just have to give in and have someone polish the mold for me or do it myself.

I use tormek for the pins, glass smooth without the take down of metal. It's a honing compound, I do a lot of would carving and use it on a leather strop to keep my edges sharp without wearing down the blades. Dremel or drill with a polishing felt works best for me the pins.

That sounds like a good material for honing the molds if I am feeling brave.

I've just been using 1200 then 2000 grit sandpaper. Gets so slippery I have trouble picking them up.
