Currently working on a pellet replacement for my favorite "die lot marked and dated" boxed Crosman Premiers that are currently "unobtanium" and the 4 tins of FTTs I bought are the most consistent pellet pellets I've had so far...........

For several years now I've been sizing my pellets with a home made pellet sizer that puts out pellet heads that measure 4.50mm with my digital calipers because I found that this size worked well with both my "tighter leade" .177 HW95 and the "looser leade" .177 R9, plus loading a resized CPL (normally 4.54-5.56mm) doesn't cause a "sore finger shooting session" with the HW95. I haven't noticed any "sore finger shooting sessions" loading the FTTs from the tin, however since EVERY FTT I measured read 4.52-4.54mm on my digital calipers I opted to run them through my home made 4.50mm sizer........

Well, at my leisure I've sized 3 tins of H&N FTTs and every single one was sized down to 4.50mm (as read on my caliper) and all have required the same force to snap the head past the sizing ring. I used to have two different sizers, one 4.52mm for the R9 and the 4.50mm I'm currently using because I found that the 4.50mm was accurate in both springers.......

A few years ago I tried to size atin of supposedly 4.52mm JSB Exacts and a lot of them simply fell past the 4.50mm sizing ring withing being sized. Next pellet I sized was the 4.52mm Air Arms domes and they were much more consistent than the Exacts. Matter of fact, they are also a possible replacement for the boxed CPLs.........

Anywhoo, I haven't tested the accuracy of the sized FTTs yet but unsized straight from the tin they are were accurate when shot upstairs at 18 yards while sitting on a bucket resting the HW95 on cross sticks..........

That is my go-to pellet for my R7 and R9. That's why I have 21k of them.

I use the 8.64gr, 4.52mm in the TX200…37,000 so far…

I have three tins coming in to give a try in my Challenger 2009. Going to drill out the transfer port and hope that will get me between 10 and 12 ft. lbs. I understand that's the most you can do and expect the dreaded T handle to hold. Got the gun for free with the T handle loose, balls missing (the gun, not me) and also missing the bolt o ring.

Problem with ftt's (and jsb's) is that tins with different code numbers are usually almost completely different pellets,my 2 cents

We are just grown men spending money we don’t need shooting BB guns.
It is not life saving brain surgery.
As long as they are 4.52mm (whatever is marked ion the box cause I am not going to check them) I am fine.

As mentioned, the main issue for mme is that since my "go to pellet" for a couple decades, the die lot marked and dated 7.9 grain Crosman Premier in the 1250 count cardboard box, so a suitable replacement is being sought.

I first tried the 8.4 grain supposedly 4.52mm JSB Exact and found that the head size consistency and pellet weight were very inconsistent with most of the pellet heads undersized for the 8 tins I bought. Here are a couple pics of supposedly 4.52mm JSB Exacts from the tins...........

The next pellet tried was the 8.4 grain 4.52mm Air Arms dome and while they were formed in the same factory as the JSBs the AA version was/is considerably more consistent.........

I'm currently considering the 4.52mm FTT and the 4.52mm AA dome as a replacement for the boxed CPL but I haven't shot much this year so some 50 yard testing needs to be done with these two brands from my HW95. As far as consistency from "lot-to-lot" I haven't bought enough tins of either pellet to determine.

Something I've been doing for a few years since buying the .177 HW95 is the sizing of pellet heads since the boxed CPLs had large heads and a shooting session would give "sore seating finger syndrome" from pushing a 4.55mm CPL head into a 4.48mm leade. I made a couple pellet head sizer/pellet skirt "rounders" and ended up with a sizer that produced a 4.50mm pellet head because that size pellet was accurate in both the looser leade .177 R9 and still was comfortible to load into the .177 HW95 leade......

The now "unobtanium" 7.9 grain boxed CPLs were easily sized to a consistent 4.50mm as well as the 4.52mm AA dome and the 4.52mm FTT, however the supposedly 4.52mm JSB Exact was a "no-go" because a large percentage of the pellet heads slipped past the 4.50mm sizing ring without any sizing at all and those 9 tins of measured and sorted Exacts were sold to another shooter.
