Picked up a very nice condition Hyscore 801 (Diana 25) in .22 recently and like many of this year/type the rear sight blades are seemingly always missing and very hard to come by since not made anymore. So I made one out of an old sawzall blade which seemed to be the perfect thickness. Below are pics of the process which was very easy and with minimal, common hand tools. So if yours is missing you may consider just making one. What a very satisfying project getting this fine old rifle back into working condition again with parts I made! I’ll let the pic’s do the talking.

More pics, finishing the slider, final fitting, bluing and completed good as new. Slightly bent and filed a slot in the leaf to retain it in the sight base. Also install a stiff spring under the front lip of the leaf. Works perfectly and resembles the original.

They might sound like a lot of work till you realize you only need 3-4 pumps for plinking.

Wow. Nice work, Scott! Very well done.
I like how you made a carboard blank for fitting prior to starting to cut metal. Learned that in welding school. A sawzall blade is the perfect steel to use for that purpose, (but then you knew that).
Be well,
J~

Question please, is it just a friction fit where the blade attaches to the base?

Yes the blade slips in under the cross bar and held in place under spring tension. There is also a groove cut in the blade that the cross bar rest in for added grip. I’ve also seen a protrusion in the blade that rest up against the cross bar to keep it from sliding out from under it.

That's NICE! Great work.
You might do well selling these! Those light stamped sights are quite exposed sitting exposed on top of a heavy action, and you often see them damaged.
