Yesterday I had the length of PCP chambers explained to me and it makes sense to use a bullet capable of jumping the gap from bullet nose to the beginning of the rifleing.
A revolver bullet has to jump quite an airgap from the front of the chamber (on a revolver) to the forcing cone and finally the rifleing. It seems to me that a bulletlong enough to be capable of the jump just makes sense.
In a Springer (where my experiences lay) you just place the pell right into the rifling and don't have this accuracy busting situation!
With the extreme accuracy potential and extreme possible range of the PCP it would behoove you to try and get the most advantagious start for the bullet!

There are different ways of making a "chamber".... You can make it a specific length with a minimal taper where the rifling starts.... and it wil be at it's optimum for a bullet that just engages the taper.... OR, you can make a long tapering lead to the rifling so that the bolt pushes the bullet into the rifling and it is already engaged before you pull the trigger....
Even with a long taper, very short or very long bullets may not be in the ideal situation.... but with a parallel chamber and short taper the situation is more likely to be critical on bullet length....

With many of us taking advantage of the AoA Lother Walther barrel deal rekindling this thread seemed useful. One thing that perplexes me is getting the o-ring on the bolt to seal while having the pellet in an ideal spot. Could do a chamber cast with cerosote and get the proper angle that way. But starting with the correct angle cutter seems critical. I'm not worried at all about making and positioning the barrel port or crowning if needed but the chambering issue is giving me pause.
