replacing poppet in the .457 challenger

Well my new barrel came and I had him throw in a new poppet (valve stem)..  Problem is that the new valve stem is to big (.01+) to go in the valve.. Should i try to sand it to size?? I am thinking I will chuck in a drill press but afraid it might damage the Plastic part of it..
   Any ideas ??

Yeah, I don't think I'd do that, If you got it from either one of the Bin's call them they'll take care of you!
