Should’ve bought a Mrod sooner

Watch out.  I thought the same about my Mrod when I first got it.
Then slowly the mod bug bite.  I wanted more consistent shots/flatter shot string.  Bonus was more shots per fill too, 50 vs 30!  (18-21 grn pellets/slugs around 900fps)

it’s good enough for me if I want consistency I shoot my Leishy2. Fifty shots and 90 foot spread on this for my distances is good enough. Ground squirrels can’t tell the difference between 850 and 740

Marauders do have their place and are time tested.  I'll likely never part with mine.  They are just too reliable, accurate and easy to maintain.

I will stick with my Nova Liberty and Air Venturi Avenger, cheaper and better shoting out of the box.
100+ shots on a fill around 20FPE.

I have a Benjamin Marauder pistol and based on the poor out of the box performance I will never buy a Marauder rifle.

Me too. USA made and shoots perfect out of the box at 42 fpe and dead on accuracy. No leaks and completely functional. Unlike some others .

The bolt is smooth and the rifle is easy to cock and with a large 4X12-40 scope and rings and Benjamin sling it weighs 9 pounds even. Not great but not bad either. And it feels good.

Could the Marauder platform use some updates, I suppose but considering the going price is between $425 and $475 I am not sure there is anything this good for less than nearly triple the price. I keep hearing there is but when I look there is not unless it is from China or it is out of stock or it looks like a tactical SEAL team operator weapon or a ray gun from Star Wars.

Just saying, highly impressed with mine.

I cut my pcp teeth with the M-Rod, it's one gun I think I will always own at least one of.

Mine wasn't good out of the box, I was one of the lucky ones that got the bad .22 barrel back in the day, but it's an Awesome rifle Now, I put the LW Polygon Barrel on it and now it's a Laser.....

I don't have one yet but have started to think about one in 177.  I don't think I want a P35 in 177 in case I want to shoot hunter field target.  The high scope would be a liability.  I can't find anything for around $500 in a conventional rifle in 177 that would be as good.  Maybe an Avenger but I have one of those and I had to do several things to it before I was satisfied.  It still has an unimpressive stock.  I didn't have to do anything to my Prod but I have turned the power up and done a Bstaley tune and it was pretty fun.  I still haven't touched the trigger - that was a significant issue with both the Avenger and P35.  Crosman's good support plus the aftermarket support are big advantages of the Mrod, I think.

Why do you say a high scope? My scope, 4X12-40mm, is about as low as can be and I can barely squeeze the cover on the scope, it is right down on the barrel. Just medium rings, nothing special:

Mrod is a great tinkering gun (imo) as parts are plentiful and so are the mods people have done in the past. Simple and reliable platform.

Plus, marauder is just a bad @@@ name.

He was saying the scope would be too high if he used the P35 for field target, not the Mararuder . . . thus the Marauder would be lower and better.

At some point we'll probably own one.  I never liked the stock- too 2x4ish for me.  My wife is less courteous, but she's spoiled by her Lelya.  Still, no denying they're a good bang for the buck.  And the trigger is excellent.  I wish Crosman redesigned the magazine so it works like the EdGun mags- no moving parts.  I can't complain about any Crosman barrel on any airgun I own, from MSP to PCP.

The rabbit hole for mods is deeper with the Crosman PCPs than anyhing else out there, so you can leave it stock or make a big-bore bullpup...  Just gotta open the wallet and pour in some cash.

It wasn't until recently when I was trying to choose between an Edgun and an FX that I realized just how satisfying my Synrod (22 LW Pic) really is. Two years and tens of thousands of pellets, refinements, and tuning later it is everything I want or need. So I passed on the Super Airguns. They offer me nothing I want over the Marauder I have.

Never a malfunction, always accurate. It was the consistency that took so long. Now nothing changes its POI and I can rely on that. Two + mags of 32+ fpe inside 1% and many more acceptable inside the 50 I use, all at 1/2 MOA or less with 6 fps or less shot to shot variation. Rarely cleaned, never needs it. Shoots a wide range of pellet weights and types equally well. An STO Falx made its already low report even more quiet.

I've been shooting for over sixty years, always chasing accuracy. The great PBers have been sold or given away. Kept the basics, now unused but there, just in case. My '69 Blue Streak and '81 Diana 35, although tweaked here and there, still look and function like new. A later Diana 853 is frankly amazing. Talk about shot-to-shot consistency? They provide.

But the Synrod is my Super air rifle.

I still have a gen1 that was modified for full lefty, still like it.  I used to grump about them being inefficient with air out of the box, but once I got a compressor I cared a little less. Plus, my $$ Daystate HRXL .25 only gets 20 shots per fill, so I guess you have to choose what's important. 

If you get a new marauder on a really good deal, especially with the newest wood stock, you can throw in a matched Hill kit and optionally a TJ or LW barrel and have a gun that shoots with the big boys for under $1K.  Personally, I don't care if it isn't side lever because that only works for me if it's on the left side anyway.  With the traditional bolt you can put it where it suits you.

I don't consider myself super handy at working on airguns, but even I can work on a Marauder for most things.
