New Gamo pcp, the arrow

I saw this randomly on HAM.  It is not an arrow shooting pcp despite its name.  Don’t see any info anywhere else on it.  Could this be a beginner rifle to compete with the umarex origin?

I was pretty much set on the Origin as my first dip into the dark side,  I may wait a bit and see what reviews are like on this new Gamo, I love the fact that it has open sights.

I hope it’s just a bad picture but the breech looks plastic… otherwise the lines are interesting.

Well it's gamo and there big on the plastic.

My gamos the plastic is pretty tough stuff.  So i would not worry too much .

If it comes  with gamos best 5 year warentee  vs there one year that betters it  a bit more.

At a sub $250 price its worth the chance i think, but gamo blew a chance to match or better the avenger by not adding adjustable reg and all like it has..     ill bet gamo is a more solid gun in the end .

Just looking at the Gamo site and Hard Air site, and taking just the published words into account.

Gamo/BSA Urban made a pretty big hit at that selling price….but that grew more costly, so this is what they’ll try to fill that low end gap.  Dose seem to be a battle for the low cost end.  None of the big dealers sell at suggested retail so to win a spot at the table, just have to compete with the others in that price range...not what "could have been"

Do have to say I’ve enjoyed some of the wording in the promotion. 

60 “ shots of autonomy” is particularly well conceived/neutrally expressed and “automotive grade glass filled nylon” is about as nice as that feature could be described.

Maybe they should rethink “looks as good as it shoots”.

Have some doubts for the T-handle straight pull bolt on a sporters power repeater.  On a single shot, normally have your head off the stock when you cock it (already moving to pick up and load the next pellet).  If you want to keep your faced planted on the stock with a repeater straight pull, doubt there is enough room for both the bolt travel AND your hand yanking the T-handle back.

I always taught my boys to make their 1rst shot count & to be honest can’t remember when I last needed a quick follow-up. My deer guns are all single shot whether black powder or smokeless. I prefer the challenge & discipline over spray & pray.

Having a mag to store your next shot is more convenient than a tin or pouch though.

As for accuracy … a couple weeks ago my son asked me to chrony his Gen II fusion 10x & try a couple different pellets. The barrel in the Arrow appears to be of similar manufacture. The weather didn’t cooperate, so 30ft in my basement, open sights, 14.3 CPHPs … (see pic) Now, other than my P1 I haven’t shot a springer in years, and I was surprised!

I’d bet the Arrow has potential.

Not opposed to the Gamo Arrow….previous post did seem that way, but was mostly poking fun at the ad copy’s creative writing.  I’m going to remember that “shots of autonomy”  description.

Point being, it doesn’t have to be the worlds greatest PCP….just have to be a good choice in it’s price-class.  Considering how big box air gun sales tend to discount from MSRP,  are currently thinking in the $200-210 class.

Am fixating on the T-Handle a bit. IT COULD WORK OUT.

Unless they got internally creative, that would be the stiffest/most no-leverage way to cock a striker.

Realized that the only real shooting/hunting advantage that a repeater could have is if you stayed eye-glued to the target while repeating. 

Thinking about how I shoot, watching other people shoot, and most videos on line….people move their face off the stock between shots even when they don’t have to.  Likely +90% of that shooting is from a rest, maybe more folks stay glued to the sight picture when hunting with a repeater. 

Also a single shot fan, tend to screw up the rapid-repeater function by follow though (watching all the way to impact and a bit beyond).  Not enough to confirm a miss, but to try and figure out why it was  miss before I even think about cycling the action.

Sill like repeaters as the easiest/cleanest way to carry spare ammo.

I think it is just another example of the race to the bottom. Consumers of these days only care about lowest price. Quality, function, serviceability, lifetime use, legacy (yes, some products have a legacy), none of these things matter and for such a person this cheap, plastic, throwaway product should be about perfect. Contrasted to the Urban or the Coyote, what a disappointment.

Inflation suxs….and it’s going to get a lot worse. A LOT more people will be watching their budget if they aren’t already.

Would be nice to have more money in the budget for what is basically a hobby, but I’m not going to be the one to suggest (even by inference) that budget limited folks shouldn’t be allowed to join the sport OR that they just blow the buget, order a more expensive airgun, and add it to credit card.
