A little frustration

My 22 cal. Marauder has been peforming wonderfully. I commonly kill critters at distances from up close out to 70 yards. It was sighted in for 30 yards with 21.14 gr. Kodiaks. So today, out of curiosity, I decided to see what I could do at 100 yards. It was hitting about 1 foot low aiming with the very bottom mil dot. I decided to resight the scope to be dead on at 50 yards and try again. But I didn't get that far. I noticed that my barrel band was very slightly touching the shroud on the left side. So I centered it for 360* clearance. It took an extreme number of shots and a lot of scope adjusting to get back close to 50 yard bullseyes. The tight grouping that it "was" doing, is gone. I fiddled around with it until dark and I'm far from satisfied. It was working SOOO great, and I had to fool with it. I am NOT like a lot of our members who enjoy the challenge of tinkering with their guns. I like mine to be set up to my liking and then left alone. It's all my fault and that ticks me off. At least I have other guns to hunt with until I get this thing figured out again. Sorry, I just had to vent a little.

Richard, its safe to vent here! Let 'er rip, bro!
When you get the Mrod back to where it needs to be, just think how pleased you will be. I bet you never touch that barrel band again! Hang in there, bro.

Sorry to hear that Pal. I know when my Indy started shooting substandard groups I was so stressed. Didn't know why, just wanted AoA to get it fixed! I hope you can get you weapon fixed soon. It is quite a hunting tool. I, like you, don't seem to like tinkering on the important things. I try to have professionals whenever I can to work on my weapons. I would be so upset with myself to always be reminded of a mistake that I made out of ignorance or lack of experience. I'm sure with your connections at Crosman you will be able to get back to where it was. Cheer up, smile and go kill something with that '48 of yours!

You got that right Joe. And thanks Brett. Actually, the 48s were kinda grinning because they know I'll have to depend on them a little more for a while.

when i first got my m rod the barrel band was touching and it shot tight groups. i centered it up and now my accuracy in that gun has gone to heck. its pretty much worthless until i can order the LW barrel. maybe i should put the barrel band back to touching and see what it does.

well it was designed to have a little clearance, but if it worked i'd do it. man told me "220....221.... whatever it takes"
heck i'd put a big pink bow on it if it helped it shoot better.

Richard was your gun full on air or low on air when you adjusted the barrel band?
First thing I would do would be loosen screws on barrel band when air is low. Just back them out so they are just touching tube but not much. Then fill gun and try re setting scope at at 30 yards again. See if that will resolve ur issue. If so then when you have your POI back just snug the scews up but not tight.
