Resealing a blue streak

Is the general consensus to re-use the two valve springs (opposed to new ones in the kit)?

I'd reuse the old springs.  IIRC, the new ones are stiffer ( or is it "more stiff"?).

Thanks....I'd go with stiffer .
I'm sidelined now anyway. I ordered a kit from ebay but the white synthetic seals were too thick and I smashed, distorted them trying to force them in. I just ordered a kit from Mac1 so now have to wait for those.

  Often as not, I've put the old springs back in a Sheridan or Benjamin.  With that said, the last Streak I resealed had to have the new check valve spring before it would work right.

Did you make sure you got the old lead seal out before you tried to put the new white one in?
You can sometimes reuse the lead seal.

Yes sir....Mine had one lead seal on top and one black seal on the bottom.....both came out with the valve. Meticulous cleaning showed that no seal parts were left behind.

without a doubt the exhaust valve spring should be saved if its the original. The generic copies are differant and not the best The original V shaped  are the best fit and performing one to use. The little Intake valve spring is much weaker and MAYBE can use a replacement. You would know if it doesnt pump up. Make sure you scrape sand the little step inside the valve that the lead or urethane seal ring sits on .The old type seal may be stuck on there and putting another over it will not work out. Not sure if it was a 5/8" diamter wood dowel with a sanpaper patch glued over the end that fits perfectly for that step but that what I used.
