New to me Crosman 150

I am undecided as of yet, not real pressing.
 I have been told not to send it to Henry Ford because he modifies them in such a way that some original part(s) can no longer be used (poppet? / valve stem?)
 Again just "hear-say".

I don't even have the 600, not sure if the $200 price is worthwhile but if you folks think it is worth it, I'll buy it and then wait for you, Sir, to decide who and where to send it for repairs. I have a 150 here and two more on the way waiting for the kits from Baker.

Maybe worth mentioning I am told the 600 has some parts that can be easily damaged and are no longer available.
 I plan on sending mine out to a "Pro".

Ooookkk! Now you got my attention big time. See, from hanging around the forum I infer you've done some tinkering and fixing. I guess I better reconsider my di&#ing around with this one. HD  I'd appreciate it if you can let me know where you plan on sending it, I thought of Baker since that's where I bought the seal kits for the 150.

I have no recommendation on a repair shop because I have never used one, but I believe Scott is right. The first time I took one apart I did a lot of research first and when I did it it went smoothly, but I can and always have fixed most things myself. I would say I have higher than average mechanical ability from years of lots of practice.

I wish that I had bought one of the Crosman 600's a couple years back, it had grips that worked for a lefty, even if it was a leaker I would have bought a kit for it because I'd rather work on my own guns.  Always have and always will unless I need a barrel custom made or something like that.

I totally understand you, the last time I got a wild hair up my nether parts I tore out the cabinets in the kitchen- we had just bought the house and the kitchen remodel quote was 55-75k. By the time I got done I realized I had no idea how to make cabinets. Long story short, it took me a couple of months to learn an buy the right tools but I got it done

I started the thread and I don't mind if we get out in the weeds a bit, but I think your idea for a dedicated "600" is great, thank you.
Back to the 150 that started it all, the kits from Baker are arriving on the 24th (cross fingers) and there's a possibility for a custom set of target grips by the New Year (cross fingers, toes, eyes and everything else that can be crossed).

On page 3 of this thread Don was asking about stamped numbers. On the one I have thre is a set of stamped numbers on the breech cover. I think they are 829609 but I haven't a clue of their significance. I don't see any other numbers stamped anywhere.

Thank you for the advice. You were asking about your 150, based on my minuscule amount of knowledge I'd say yours is a variation 2.

I know prices are crazy and that is why I was asking about a 600 in fair shape for $200, I found one!
The 150's aren't any saner, there is a 150 var.1 selling for a mere $248. I thing the amount of exterior rust may reflect the interior and the visible screw heads are pretty messed up like Magilla Gorilla worked on it.

Most of mine do too but I think it's a part number, no significance as far as when the gun was made or anything.  I think maybe the variant 1 that I posted about is probably the oldest one that I have because of lack of numbers on that part that you're talking about.  I've never seen anyone talk about numbers on the pressure tube like mine before, this is the first I've heard of anyone else having a 150 that had numbers stamped on the pressure tube.

LOL!!! I may have been born at night, but it wasn't last night. I would much rather spend that money on custom grips or even a new AEA Challenger.

I'm watching a disassembly/assembly video on YT and the gent is very thorough but Dear Lord! he is repetitive and sloowww....The other video I found is from a guy who must've been drunk, he keeps putting stuff backwards to the point I was yelling at the computer screen.

Brewbear, I think $200 is a pretty good price if all of the pieces are there.  Assume that it will leak.  There are only three sealing areas (four with a push button piercing knob) for the pressure boundary.  Disassembly/reassembly is simply daunting and tedious.  I've re-sealed two and ran about 5,000 and 500 pellets through them with no problem since.  I'll dig up the links that I used if your interested.  The C600 is just a fun gun to shoot.

I just got home to find a parcel on my porch chair. Today was a very long week! In any case it is dark and raining outside so I couldn't shoot my (yepee) Ted Williams (yepee)
that was in the box. It is very clean with a couple of small rust spots, nothing a dunk in hot water and citric acid will not cure. I noticed a small hole on the side of the cocking knob. What is that for?
So, now I have a dilemma: Two Crosman 150's and only one complete rebuilt kit from Baker (it arrived today too). My brain tells me to "practice" on the first 150 and be sure of what I do when I rebuilt the Ted Williams (two more kits are on their way but will not be here till next week). My heart tells me to rebuilt the Ted Williams first and see how it shoots.
Before I forget, do you guys see a performance difference between Type 1 var.2 and Type 2?
