Anyone knows what scope rings or other attachment is meant to be mounted on the small dovetail rail spotwelded on the receiver? The rail measures 0.310'' wide (about 5/16'') on the very top and is 2'' long. Thanks in advance.

I found some info here -
https://www.tapatalk.com/groups/americanvintageairguns/can-you-scope-a-diana-27-t3892.html
Scroll down. I like the sight sets that they made to fit it.
Good luck,
J~

Goose, thanks for finding that link! The most important point in the thread is that the spot-welded rail is not intended for heavy-duty scopes or clamping mounts. It's really designed for the old Diana match sights which put no stress on the joint.
A couple of addenda to the old notes:
+ The Diana "Diopter 75" sight will fit. The later "Diopter 75 T01" will not. These are clearly marked "T01" on top of the sight.
+ Should anyone be interested in the pics that Photobucket killed, I can provide them.

No worries, my duckduckgo skills are strong! I notice that you had posted some good stuff in there.
I also looked on DDG for images and found a few with very light scopes mounted. Very cool guns!

Bringing this up.
Found out the rail was meant to be used with a scope mount and a small scope, see picture. Found here:
https://forum.vintageairgunsgallery.com/vintage-diana-resources/diana-airguns-post-war-catalogues-brochures/
In the meantime I started making a new base for a rear peep sight, I'm using the upper part of a modern Diana sight and a custom home-made base. I'l be replacing the FO insert with a peep, so still have to make a few parts but it's coming together well
