Weihrauch hw97k moderator

Im looking at buying a 22cal weihrauch hw97k .
I know there  are a few different companies making a moderators for this gun. Who do you guys recommend?

I cannot speak to the moderator but I find the stock 97K’s to be quite quiet actually.

The factory moderator actually has baffles and is quieter than similar powered springers. Most of the noise you'll hear will come from the action. I'd buy it and try it before buying a moderator for it. You might find it quiet enough. If you don't then muffle it.

Well, I'm here to tell you the HW can on a 97 makes the gun very quiet!!! without a moderator you can hear the report of the rifle, I live in an area where I do dot dare shoot a air rifle without a moderator for very long, sound levels that some of us have gotten use to others hear differently, so what you think is quiet? I may not, tuning the power plant and adding a moderator reduces the sound level of the whole gun, with the can theirs no more pop or crack at the muzzle, yes you will still hear the piston hit home, but if it tuned correctly it sounds like a thud instead of a staple gun

I have a couple different mods for my HW95. They are an absolute must have for me to shoot outside.

They take away the recognizable snap of the muzzle report.

I looked back to my posts from last November, putting a mod on my 95 reduced the sound level about 9DBa measured a foot in front of the muzzle.
That is a drastic change.

The other test that made me a believer is when shooting in the basement without a mod, the cat runs away. With the mod, the cat looks at me and then goes back to sleep.

So you need a 7mm Allen wrench to take out the  cap at the muzzle on a 97K.
Another question are the threads on the HW97k

Yeah, moderators on springers work all right, even though they don't make them silent, per se. They not only cut down the noise level, but they also change the sound quality from an alarming, gun-like "Pop!" to a mellow "puts". Worth every penny, although they do make the gun a bit heavier, and longer.  That is, unless one chops the barrel.

Chopping the barrel will make the gun louder, with or without a moderator. In other words with a shorter barrel you'll need a better moderator to make up for the lost barrel length.

No need for a moderater on a 97.  The spring noise against your ear is louder than the muzzle pop.

There's only one. The HW moderator made for the 97. AoA has them.

At one point I found an adapter that replaced the muzzle cap and had 1/2"x20 threads, I forget the thread size needed. Going that route would be more expensive so I just went with the HW97 moderator. If I realized how quiet is was before the purchase, I probably would have not got it, but do use it since I bought it.

As stated, the HW97 is very quiet, but the moderator will knock down a few db's. There is a hollow "muzzle break" already equipped on the muzzle. The HW97 specific moderator screws onto that eliminating what little muzzle report there is.

Thanks for posting Dave but the 97 has different threads. It's a larger female thread. I don't know what it is but it's not 1/2"-20

Here's the Weihrauch model that screws right into the 97. It's the route I would take it I were to add one to my already quiet 97.

To go to 1/2" UNF (1/2"x20) for the HW97, you'd need a M22x1 to 1/2x20 adapter, as best as I can find.

Then I got a moderator from DonnyFL. 

As others have mentioned, my HW97 wasn't very loud to begin with, but there was a bit of a snap.  The moderator definitely helped quiet it down - but did make it longer, a little heavier, and a touch tougher to release the cocking lever.  Not bad, but not as easy as stock...
