My new mold

Just grabbed a mold from a fellow member here. It was an mp .22 cal 8 cavity mold. Man is it wicked to run this mold. had a full tin done in under and hour.
average weight of the solid slugs seems to be around 35.3 gr using pure lead. casting drops around .218-.222 in diameter. cant wait to drop my .22 barrel onto my impact mk2 and see how the perform. Now it has me thinking of getting half the mold hollow pointed depending on the cost. the sprue plate is too short and trick to pop open with a mallet. so almost wonder if i should be using a third handle for casting on the sprue plate.

Dan, I have the same mold. That is the 5.52 mm one, they also make one in 5.55mm. Your sprue plate is missing the third handle. It attaches in the hole at the corner-end.

when you get bored and really want to cast.. and getting a sprue handle is over a week out. we innovate and make out own. I'll have it cut out and ready for use tomorrow.
