So I'm sitting next to another competitor at a recent field target match, shooting the breeze afterwards and the subject of HW55's comes up. He casually mentions he has a Beeman marked Tyrolean he wants to sell because he is left handed and it doesn't work for him. The buyer he had in mind is getting heavily into field target and wasn't interested in a 10m gun. I couldn't shout "I'll take it" quickly enough. The owner warned me the gun was ugly and referred to it as Ugly Betty and a beater. I don't think so!!! Went to see it today and home it came with me. The metal is gorgeous (flecks in the pic is dust). The wood has a few spots that could use a little TLC but nothing that can't be done easily. It has the rare barrel sleeve and Beeman filler screws in the barrel block rear sight screw holes.

Everybody's neck and eye ball placement is different. Does you head line up perfectly with the sights?

I'm right handed but shoot left handed , I very comfortable shooting a right handed bolt action but that stock would definitely be a problem , what made him buy it in the first place being a left handed shooter? That said , that stock for a right is a work of art , absolutely beautiful. I would probably fall asleep behind that bad boy.. Great Buy , Enjoy your new treasure.

Just as a minor point of interest, the true traditional Tyrolean stock typically has this complex little "saddle" shape on the comb, and a shallow raised area on the opposite side of the butt. So they can often be shot in reasonable comfort from the off side - if not getting the full Tyro "take a nap" effect of course!

The buyer came across a deal that was too good to pass up even though the gun wasn't going to work for him. He thought he might interest a friend or two in 10m shooting and pass it along to them but it didn't happen so he decided to sell it. He knows how much I appreciate these old school guns and, being the gentleman he is, offered it to me for a similar "can't pass it up" price. The seller also wanted a local shooter to have it so the seller could continue to share the enjoyment of someone who could use it.

I shoot left hand, I'd have made it work. Man, that's a pretty gun. I have a few guns with right hand pistol grips. An AR2078B, B40 and Mendoza RM2800 break barrel repeater. I shoot them left hand with no problem. I shot a friends right had FWB300 left hand. Most of my other guns are ambi. or the cheek rest is on the wrong side. I get by in a right hand world.

HOW MUCH for that "Beater" with the fancy sights and fancier stock ?

I will guess-having no idea what they go for

My guess $800 or so.Fancy stock must be uncommon and collectors like uncommon-

This fellow sure has high standards-and like lefteyeshot says people who shoot left handed routinely MAKE right handed guns work-Pretty as that gun is-I would make it work!

Just ignore my crude question-but I just could not resist-pretty gun-!

PS I am left eyed right handed-so I most naturally shoot left handed-but right is ok too- when I was young I shot rifles left handed pistols right hand-now I am equally not good either hand.

Charles, what makes that gun special is not the stock. It is a HW 55.

Perhaps the best BB that Weihrauch has ever made. Personal favorite of the founder and his son and Mr. Mike Driskill.

Thanks for the tip-so the HW55 is what makes it desirable-with the quirky stock adding value but not the main feature

perhaps this link below will work -it is a 2017 thread-a member asking for value because he was selling it from his uncle's estate

The mentioned prices seem low $400-$650

Huge aside -"dang" Brits have screwed up over seas buys because some stuff I buy is sold in sterling now

I recently accused a poor Brit of trying to cheat me because I naturally expected the price 225(it was sterling but I am so accustomed to Euros..) to be much much less than my CC charged

$312 instead of $265-
