I think it’s made in Poland.

The FX chrono, albeit small, has very mixed reviews.

I have the FX, so far it has be convenient reliable and I would like to say accurate but I don’t have anything else to Comp air it to.

I have the FX and it is a unreliable POS. I also have the cheap Amazon that always works.

After shooting my chrony dead I bought one of the $30 Chinese eBay type (on Amazon) chronographs that clamps onto the end of the barrel and reads meters per second.

So far it has worked perfectly and it's rechargeable as well

I have 4 chronys:

1. Caldwell Ballistic Precision.
2. Competition Electronics ProChrono DLX Chronograph.
3. LabRadar Ballistic Velocity Doppler Radar Chronograph.
4. Air-Chrony Mk3 Ballistic Chronograph.

Out of all 4, I like the ProChrono because it's Bluetooth. However the LabRadar is handy for extra stats on the fly.

Depending on what I'm in need of doing is what tool I'll use.

Dan, I bought the Caldwell Ballistic Precision Premium Kit off Amazon when they were on sale.
Tripod, LED sun shades, cables, and case.... Darn good investment as far as I am concerned.
They are currently $140

I have the Competition Specialties ProChrono DLX with built-in Bluetooth. It's exactly what I would want if I were designing one from scratch.

With Chuck on this...amazed how well the cheap ($30) unit works. It's a cheap little unit that I really expected NOT to work....was wrong. Can clamp onto anything up to about 1 3/4".

I'm really liking it so far. Yes, it attaches to the barrel, or suppressor. I've attached it to a 0dB, a Tatsu, and a shroud with baffles inside. I've also attached it directly to the barrel. I did some research on it before buying. Most everyone that has it likes it. A few YouTube videos about it too. Can be used on pistols also.
I've mounted mine both under the barrel AND above the barrel. It makes no difference when clearance may be an issue.

No bright sun problems, no angularity problems like table mounted chronographs have. Can be used in very low...or NO light.

Don't buy the Sporter version. It's not designed to work with pellet/air guns like the V3 is.

Just to mention….during testing, when there is a 1.2% difffernce….is it because one reads so much closer to the muzzle (my vote) or a “real” difference?

More likely it's measurement reliability. Consumer-grade electronics are doing pretty good at 1% accuracy.

I have one of the ~$30 clamp on Chinese chronographs and it works very well. But it affects POI if I use it while shooting groups. So I bought a very similar one that can be tripod mounted in front of the gun. I got it from Alliexpress. It took a couple weeks to get here but it works well. It also reads MPS but it gives you one digit after the decimal place (i.e. 274.4, instead of 274). It's a bit of a pain to write down the MPS after each shot but once I get started it isn't bad. Gives me an excuse on the size of my groups.

I used to own a "Shooting Chrony" but it got shot one too many times so it doesn't work any more. One of the nice things about these inexpensive units is they work on a different wavelength of light and seem very insensitive to lighting conditions (unlike my "shot chrony"). Both have rechargable batteries that last a long time but the way you know they need charging is they start giving you obviously inaccurate readings.

I cannot see the logic in buying a more expensive unit when these inexpensive units work so well. They do not require you to set a velocity range like the FX either. They do not eat 9V batteries like my shot chrony.

They have their own light source in the form of built-in infrared LEDs. I use mine from time to time in complete darkness. I love the fact they never miss a reading...the infrared in combination with being clamped in alignment with the barrel makes it possible.

For the cheap $25-30 amazon/aliexpress/ebay chrono (same model), mini calculators are $1 at the Dollar Store, just stick one on the top of the chorno to convert from mps to fps (mps * 3.28), or of course use anything else too.
