That would be the old Sheridan airgun factory. Been by there, a couple times.
What a shame.

I've looked around and have never been able to find any photos of the inside of that building.  It would be really nice to know more details on how they manufactured their guns.

There were two locations of the Sheridan factory in Racine. The photo in the beginning of this thread is the second location on Sheridan Road. After being bought by Benjamin the factory was moved to a third location. I have had the privilege of hearing stories from a few Sheridan employees and they all speak very well of the company. It was small and people oriented; a great place to work making a great product that they took pride in.

Ted Osborne, the "Mr. Sheridan" of his day, had numerous taped interviews with retired employees - they were apparently very happy to discuss their time at the factory - along with a trove of notes, company documents and other things.  His intent was always to write an exhaustive history of the company, but sadly he didn't live to achieve it.

Thanks for posting.  I'd love to see other articles/info about Sheridans.  I used to drool over them when I was a kid but they were WAY out of my budget.  I had to settle for my $3.95 Daisy Cub !
