❓ WHY did my PP700 get louder?

❓ WHY did my PP700 get louder?

I have been shooting my PP700 regularly.
However, lately, both I and others thought that it sounded louder than it used to.
❓ I wonder what might have happened — because I need it QUIET! 😊


🔶 The specs:PP700S-A
.22 cal 
Pellet:  H&N Sniper Light 14.04gr
Sumo silencer
Huma regulator
Tune:
REG 120bar
MV 688fps (14.8FPE) = 4.5% below the knee of 720fps

🔶 All I did recently to the gun was I extended the dovetail rail with a dremel to have more space for a long dovetail-to-picatinny rail adaptor.
And I changed to higher rings to mount a Tactacam on the Discovery VT-3  3-12x44 FFP.
After rezeroing it, it keeps hitting the pigeons at long ranges, just like before. 😊

First suspect would be the breech block 0-ring...even a little leak there is loud.

I have a separate post started about possibly ruining my Akela barrel after changing breach o ring in the barrel.
I have noticed that my gun is louder too but i have to cure the new accuracy problem.


Mr Ribbs, When you say breach block o ring,  where exactly are you referring to?

Different system...PP700 has a side pivoting breech block like this.  Pivot it to the side, put the pellet in the barrel, pivot it back up.

I miss typed...the breech block o-ring isn’t on the breech block, just seals to the pivoting block.….

Your type would use an o-ring in the barrel breech and a probe to inject the pellet though the o-ring and into the bore.  Do not know the factropy size for your rifle.  Thickness of the o-ring decides the size of the center hole...so can find some that fit the recess well, but be of different inner diameter.

Well, the breech block IS loose. 🤦‍♂️
