Bolt mod my 392S so I can low mount Bugbuster

Today I completed reassembly of my new 392S after slightly modifying the bolt handle with a more pronounced bend, and machining flats on two surfaces to further clear the scope and the stock. This is wonderful. The bolt handle now clears my UTG Bugbuster 3-9X easily. I made a bending jig from very hard wood that captures and isolates the bolt handle as I use my arbor press to make a sharper bend. Top photo is after bending but before machining flats. Happy I didn't have to lathe-turn the back of the bolt body to install a turned and serrated knob to function as my bolt handle. I could use a touch of cold blue solution to blue the flats , but a touch of oil now and again is fine by me.
I hope to take a few first shots tomorrow in my back yard "range". Don

That looks great. Making a hardwood die was an excellent idea. Polishing the bolt handle surfaces could make it easier to keep it corrosion free and would look better than cold blueing in my opinion. Here is a picture with a polished bolt and trigger.

Thank you. I debated a lot about an approach---cutting the handle and crafting a spoon-style end-- turning and attaching a knurled knob and installing at the back of the bolt body--heating and flat forming the factory knob on the handle. My chosen approach ended up to me being the best and most direct change. Done now, the bolt works well. The scope is close to the bore and my eye. I installed a fixed trigger overtravel stop inside the trigger guard turned from brass. I have a selection of different pellet weights too to experiment with. Yeah. I'm good to go.
Thank you for the kind words again.
