New RWS 470 th problem

A few days ago i bought a new RWS 470 th .22, and i am very disappointed with fluctuations in speed. They replied to me that this is a break in period that lasts up to several hundred shots. It seems to me that this is too much even for a new rifle. Here are some of the results. Baracuda match 21.1: 662, 518, 534, 616, 668, 499.  CPUM 14.3: 727, 793, 665, 649, 731, 764.

Looks like you are passing lube into chamber. Normally RWS does not have bad seals from factory. Sometimes it does take a few hundred shots to break in a seal and chamber. Also breech seal could be not seating properly. Stick with it a bit longer is my suggestion.

Are those the only shots fired through it? If so id keep the numbers but would not get worried about it. Sit down run a couple hundred shot through it then rechrony. With the 14 gr pellets i would think you should be in the mid 700's at least. My 470 is 177 so ia m just guessing what the 22 counter part ranges should be. Range douglas had a 22 cal one and did a review of it on here. Might look it up in the search to see if he posted his numbers. All else fails vortek that thing and start driving tacks!

The first thing I would check is the breech seal. Common problem.

Yes breech seals are problems in these guns as said, see if you can seat it a little further without taking the gun apart, those guns usually shoot in the mid 8's with 14.3's in .22cal

As always I have to give my views on the build and design of the RWS 470 price compared to the RWS 48, 52 and 54 models. With the RWS 48,52 and 54 you can make adjustments for the breech seal. With the new underlever RWS guns there is no adjustment except replacing it. Or spacing it out, which is not the correct way to do things..

I always wondered how RWS/Diana justified the price for the RWS 470 when the RWS 48, 52 and 54 are so much more superior in engineering and design.

The RWS 470 is a beautiful looking air gun. Can't take that away from it.

Because velocity sells airguns. Although it has very little to do with anything good.

  After about 130 shots, result looks a lot better, and i hope that after a couple of hundred will be even better. This time only CPUM 14.3: 773, 774, 774, 778, 738, 775, 777, 779, 751, 772.

I got tired of waiting for my New 470 TH and bought the Sumatra instead.Kind of wish I had waited for her now,lol.

Shooting at 40m (44 yds) in my favorite location. With JSB Exact Jumbo RS 13,43gr has 832-842 fps (21 fpe) and the best accuracy, CPUM has 754-786 fps (19 fpe), Diana High Power (H&N Barracuda Match 21,1gr) is too heavy for this rifle with a 603-619 fps (17,5 fpe)

This afternoon with no wind at 100m (110 yds). I am impressed with this rifle, and the results are amazing for a springer.
