Day time dairy shoot

My son and I went back to the dairy last night looking for more raccoons, but with the wind blowing at a constant 40 plus miles per hour with occasional gusts of close to 60 mph we didn’t see anything. I kept telling my son if they even attempted to come out the wind would blow them right of the wall. We headed home before midnight and picked out way through a few sizable trees that came down in the strong winds.
Then late this morning while the kids were out doing what ever they do these days and the wife was on the computer go over financials I grabbed the Discovery and headed out for a quick afternoon dairy shoot. The Starlings are very abundant with this years broods out and about, it makes me think this winters suet cake bait stations will be busy. I only ended harvesting 2 young Starlings. I did hit to 3 more that flew off, 2 of which I was able to see crash land but a quick look yielded nothing. The fist bird was on one of the many water tanks drinking, I positioned my self for the shot and waited until he presented a frontal shot. He popped up to look around and I centered the cross hairs on his chest, flipped the safety off and sent the CPHP. I heard the pellet strike dead center and watched as the bend came out of his legs and he just crumpled and rolled his head back. I think he was dead before the pellet exited out the back side of him! The second one just the opposite, I knocked him off the top of one the mangers form about 35 yards, and when I walked over to get him he was scurrying around the legs of several cows. I patiently waited until he cleared the cows then put the finishing shot on him. I enjoy shooting the Discovery but I like the punch I get from my springers, but I guess it’s always nice to have several shooting options.

Wow you 're on a roll Dave! Great shooting with the gusty wind!
I know exactly what you mean. A PCP does not give you much feedback at all when shooting it. Nothing like the "kick" of a Springer. Which is why I bought some power-tuned Condors
They have recoil, so you feel like you are shooting something. Still not a Springer, but the recoil you get is satisfying enough.

Good shooting and nice pics. Nothing better than a good old fashioned starling hunt
