A.E.A. the gun of the moment ?

Seeing how much power AEA is getting out of .25 cal guns, I wonder if they will make a .257. If they can build one that makes over 150 FPE I would probably buy one for a long range bench gun.

They could "easily" adapt a Zeus into 257 for long range use, a 32 inch barrel with lots of push behind it should be easily 150fpe for a few shots. The only question would be how many they might sell, I probably wouldn't buy that type (but not 100% on that). A Zeus in 510 and I would have money out right now as I'm entertaining some dark thoughts of two other manufacturers right now because very little out there in this size. Why 510? Because it can carry some ammo over to muzzle loader which I also need to get back into, simply because I enjoy that type of shooting too. I'm forced to shoot at a club, so big clouds of smoke and fire are common there, along with the BOOM from either a big bore airgun, or "conventional" guns.

.257 Texan is sitting at 200 FPE, so I would think a Zeus .257 would be even higher. 150+ is what the .257 NOE BBT slugs need to be traveling at 950+ and I would rather be closer to 1050 for a dedicated long range gun. I think 200+ FPE in a .257 is a tall order on HPA. The Texan does have the advantage of the inline valve design that will make more power with heavier slugs, at the cost of air usage. I had hoped the Evanix Rex Ibex .257 would be close but it looks like those are about 100 FPE guns, and they are the same price as a Texan.

Got a .22 challenger long stock as my first pcp. It's pretty ok I'd say I got what I paid for. Easy to cock, shoots very consistently given the same fill pressure. Depending on the ES you want to tolerate I get 1 mag 12 shots at full power about 36 at 1/3. Seems to like being filled a little less than 3600.

 Just had a kid so my shooting has been limited to backyard plinking in between diapers curious to see how it feels in the woods. Overall feels pretty light and  balanced compared to my old NP2 which felt front heavy. The weight is towards your shoulder not your hand if that makes sense. I bought a smattering of 21, 24, 28 grain slugs in various diameters from nielsen and put about 2000 through it.

Power isn't quite there. Holding out hope I just have the wrong slug sizes but it's a 62/63fpe gun all day long. (Or maybe my chronograph is bad it's all new to me) Pressure gauge is off by about 300 psi and you stare down the barrel to read it. Is that normal? Yikes. I go off the pump and fill to 3500

Magazine wanted to pop out in between shots but I adjusted the barrel till it stopped. Breach side of the barrel was ugly. Like saw cut ugly. My eye is probably a little more picky as a machinist but I'd be embarrassed to ship that. Hit it with a file, some sand paper... just run your finger over it. It doesn't affect anything just take some pride in your @$%^.

I over tightened the bolt holding the assembly to the stock initially and that caused the air tube to be in contact with the barrel shroud. Might add some washers so I can't do that in the future.

Lastly sling mounts! They're dirt cheap and you advertise it as a hunting gun.

I realize thats a lot of complaints but I'm happy with it overall. Took all of an afternoon to sort most of it out. I wanted the cheapest possible setup to squirrel hunt with a pcp and it delivered. I think I got the gun, a pump, a chrono, a scope, and a decent amount of slugs for under $500. Not bad at all. Looking around at their other models seems like it has potential to be the Honda civic of airguns if they support the aftermarket and barrel kits etc. Looking forward to getting to know this gun better.

Oh people were talking about o rings; don't waste your time with harbor freight they're the wrong material. Bin sent me a couple no charge just ask.

Not many have the smaller caliber Challengers, I use mine all the time for squirrels, very accurate and powerful  pcp.  I only shoot slugs that I cast myself from it only.  People don't realize just how nice these guns are, seems all they can think about are the big bores.

      I felt and still feel the same way.  I have not enjoyed a rifle as much since my mother gave me a Browning semi auto for my 16th birthday, 50 years ago.  I have a single point sling hooked up and I have it strapped on daily.  Wife says I sleep with it.

Have you shot that over the chronograph yet? My Challenger does the flat nose around 925 FPS and the HP around 965 FPS.

The .22 is only rated to get 70fpe. I'm sure u can hit that with heavier slugs. But still 60-70 fpe is incredibly powerful for a .22. my eagle claw in .25 only got 80fpe. I've been wanting to grab a standard challenger in .25 and or .22 for the longest but I keep buying the big BORES. Had one in .30 it only got 100~ fpe. I think 70fpe is in .22 makes it a must have.

VERY interesting first session with the new HP Carbine, I opened the package and assembled the gun, charged the tank up to 3k and loaded a couple magazines of CPHP's, slapped on a Pinty red dot, flipped the safety off and aim, squeeze, BANG!

Hmm, a little ear ringing, tried another shot, very much a normal airgun shot and a third that barely spit out the pellet, no air noise at all. Hmmm

I had to charge the bolt handle and try again, it got normal shots then a BANG! always followed by a pit-tooo and then had to recharge the bolt. On the second magazine, I got a few less BANG!s and less pit-tooo's. I filled the tank and filled the magazines, charged the bolt and went outside to the pistol range for some AR-500 playtime.

Medium fast semiauto firing rate through both magazines, no loud bangs or pit-tooo's, all 24 shot just fine.

Back into the shop, turn the chrony on and load a magazine, fill the bottle, slow firing, 2 BANG!s, 1250 and 1255 fps from the bangs and the lightbulb comes on, breaking the sound barrier, i.e. they went supersonic.

Looks like I need to get some more pellets through the gun to loosen it up and get the speeds to settle but first, I wanted to see if it was accurate at the 50y pistol range, fill/fill, cock, shoot. Incredibly, all 24 shots hit the 11" steel and 23 of them hit in a 3" group with a few going supersonic.

I am overjoyed! I got a HARD hitting 40 fpe .22 that likes CPHP's and makes 3" groups with a 3 MOA red dot sight at 50 yards. Only 2 things I would improve: Picatinny rail and an adjustable trigger. Built like a tank, very rugged, made to take a beating, very comfortable, cheeks well, overall very pleased.

I do love the form factor of the HP series guns. I wonder what the .457 HP Max would do with a .257 liner. Yesterday had almost no wind and plenty of sun, but I wasn't able to shoot. Today is cloudy and 8-12 MPH winds. Maybe I'll just shoot my .45 AEA and not have to worry about the wind at all, but I really wanted to shoot my Stormrider. Every day that makes my groups huge at 50 yards makes me want more big bores.

I made a few 3-2" groups at 50 yards with my pinty holo red dot sight shooting 220 grain HP .457 BBTs at 965+ FPS, if you needed any encouragement. With a scope I can usually keep those groups around 1", but the scope that normally goes on there got donated to my Eagle Claw for now.
