Indeed the magazines are a deal breaker, there's no going around that.

When I had the .30 AEA in for testing I was reminded how awful they are, .........sometimes you need that reminder because with time you forget like I did with the Marauders

The only negative thing I really have to say about the AEA I have is I hate the magazines, so I can totally relate to your dislike of the style magazine AEA and any gun that uses them.
However I will say my AEA magazines perform better than those used in other platforms once I got the hang of loading them correctly.
I'll also admit to using single shot trays in my other guns that I do not have CARM magazines for.

From my AEA varmint mods thread…I made my hst externally adjustable and still retained the guide rod.

I threaded the inside of rear plug. Made a threaded plunger. Drilled it and cut grooves lengthwise it’s id. Cross drilled the guide rod for a small pin and cut a screwdriver slot in the end of the guide rod.

You can access the screwdriver slot from back of plug.

Hard to see some of the details in this picture but I’m not home right now to get better pics.

I bought a 3d printed SST for my Challenger, but I haven't shot it in weeks. I'm short on ammo and the weather hasn't been cooperating for casting. So bad in fact that I went to the attic to shoot and even bought four tins of pellets! This spring I'll just have to spend a good week or two casting and getting way ahead.

You got a beast there no doubt, I'm thinking about getting another one of their big bores but I'm going to wait til around August or Sept to see what they have to offer at that time, they change so often it's really hard to say.

I too have never had a problem with the magazines but I did get a couple of Carm magazines for my Marauder and they are much better.

I think the Zeus II .58 with the 16" barrel if they make it would be not so good a cool gun to have.

That would be sweet. Would probably make a better hunting gun than my .45, but that may soon be more of an air bow than a slug gun, for me at least. A 16" Zeus .58 cal making over 500 FPE would definitely be high on my list of future airguns. I hope they come out with an air shotgun that can compete with the PBBA Pro20, that would get my money before anything else.

It is awesome to see active development for sure.  A whole different experience from, say, airforce (my preferred platform but is not exactly changing!).

My DonnyFL adapter was just delivered so I will be able to start posting details about velocity and power and start quantifying the effects of the little changes I made. Really excited to start shooting and testing this thing more thoroughly.

When the long shroud gets here I will also be happy to share details of sound moderation in the shroud (no pickles I promise) and provide stl files for the monoccore shroud insert, ss tray and other bits.  I am going to design a printable hinge type ss tray this weekend. Inspired by carm’s  ss trays for other guns.

This really is the golden age of airguns.

I don't mind the mags. I don't mind the marauder mags either. I can however attest that if you don't close that bolt all the way you will end up with a mag with a blown off cover. Ask me how I know this lol.

I just shot 4 magazines (48 shots) of H&N 25 grain slugs over a chrony with my AEA HP Varmint .22.  I was hoping for around 1,000 fps.  Without any tuning and the TP at full, I'm getting 40+ shots above 1,000 fps and about 28 shots between 1030 and 1057 fps.  Not a bad starting point.

Got a question for the tuning experts:  If I turn down the TP a hair to get it closer to 1,000 fps will I also increase the shot count?

That is unregulated ? (I see a curve) but so consistent a regulator wouldn’t make much difference. Is this typical for unregulated guns with similar tank / air usage?  Range on Y axis  is much greater I just realized - that will make it look flat

Yes, unregulated.  I've had this rifle for just over a week.  I don't know if I'd say this is "typical" but my Benjamin Cayden in .22 (also unregulated) gives me a similar curve when shooting 18 grain pellets.

Looks like your ideal range is 1-40, but I can't tell what your peak is. Either way, it should all be close enough to have the same POI at most ranges.
