Well it is out for delivery again maybe for real this time.  I’ll let you all know if it has any issues in reality and if I discover anything that I haven’t seen already posted out there I will share it here.   The first thing I want to do is make an extension to the shroud and put in a few baffles so I can test it out in my garage with the chronograph and all that.

I seen that video you're talking about, it's unusual for a person to fess up to something like that which made the video that much better IMO cause I have yet to shoot my big bore AEA's without the bolt in place, my mags and breech o rings are all still in good shape, I did have to replace a breech o ring on my 25 cal semi auto and it was my fault for casting with a known bad mold that gave wings on the pellets that chewed the o ring up. The reason that I even used that mold was because it was aluminum and light compared the brass mold that I also have.

Since no link was posted, I'm guessing that is Macabespeed. The puff of air was all from the bolt being open, he hasn't mentioned any ongoing issues so I think he got lucky with the breech seal. The Zeus valve dump is another, he knows he put something together wrong and cause the valve to stick open, not sure if he has shot it since.

I will tell you from experience, the bolt slamming open is frightening. I did this in my garage just after pulling the magazine out to refill my Bulldog. At least there wasn't a round in the chamber. I missed the safety and hit the trigger... I am not a fan of the safety being directly in front of the trigger and pulling the same way as the trigger to put into safe.

That is one other thing I can't stand and is a deal breaker for me, the safety bar in front of the trigger,.......forgot about that one.

It's taken me some time to get used to, but I like the safety on my AEA .45

On the Bulldog, it would have been nice if they put the safety in the same place as an AR safety, and the same turning style, so easy to just hit that with your thumb to bring it off safe, or back on. I don't think there would be patent issue, pretty sure that design has gone public now.

I still think one of those HP 22 semi auto pistols would be a lot of fun.  They're not really that expensive either.

Agreed, it was the semi’s that got me looking at their smaller guns. It was a hard choice

 I also see there is a standard semi auto kit that according to AEA works with all HP series airguns so maybe that could be added to the 35?

Do the semi models have the safety inside the trigger guard ?

I though only the wooden model had the safety bar inside the trigger guard

No safety inside the trigger frame.

What diameter is that bottle? Just wondering how big a bottle you could put on the front might be???

Well it’s a pistol in about the same sense the talon p is a pistol… but I knew that.

It also has a reference to high and low power springs  and different Max fill pressures for each, as you can see 3600 psi being recommended for the low power spring.

The front bushing screws onto the threaded end of the barrel. It is well vented and there’s a little bit of space inside the shroud so there is essentially a single baffle formed with a bit of volume back there to vent back into so that probably dampens the sound a tiny to what it would be with no shroud.


No one in my family is going to want hear this thing so I have to find some way to deal with the report a little bit right away.  I don’t have a machine shop but I do have a 3-D printer.  For now I’m just going to move the shroud forward as shown in the picture, and 3-D print a cylinder to surround the barrel in the space that’s exposed to the rear (circled in blue), then rig something to clamp it all down.  The free clamp for the airtube that was included with the gun is solidly built and I should be able to use that to secure the shifted barrel and plastic extension in place.

Well here’s one fact:  whoever was shooting 125 grain nsa slugs wasn’t using a magazine. Even the 108 grain are a hair too long.  I am glad I ordered a mold for a stubbier slug.  The 108 are close enough that I can just wear the noses down a bit I think. Should have ordered shorter projectiles of one form or another.

It seems all of the AEA platforms fall short on magazine length.

I dry fired into an inexpensive pillow my wife had ordered a while back.

The AEA Big 9 is also as long as the Bulldog, I think they list .75 inch long rounds and Bulldog can get .770-ish, that was another complaint solved quickly in the matter of a year.

Well I set my YH to 4500psi/ 300 bar.   filled, waited, topped off.

Airgun gauge says I’m at under 4000 psi at around 265? bar.

Which do I believe?  Add them up and divide by two?

The yong heng definitely reads high compared to every single one of my airguns including one with a gauges Doug  noble had checked.

My .45 AEA PUP is off by 300 to 400 psi on the gauge. Shows about 3700 on a 4000 fill. Been shooting tethered so it’s not a big deal. But I would like to get a new one. Just for the heck of it, I had 5 gauges inline on a couple fills just to see how they compared. Fill station, Air Venturi inline Foster M/F, Regman reg in and out gauge and rifle gauge. Not a one of them matched. Other then the AEA gauge, the other 4 were within 100 to 150 psi. I tend to believe the 4” gauges on the Regman as the truest ones.

Well other than the maga being .1” shorter than the slugs I ordered and it having a slow leak right out of the box, it seems to be fine…. It hurts to be on the bleeding edge, if that’s what this even is. Sending it back tomorrow.
