A.E.A. the gun of the moment ?

I’m excited to try it out. I ordered nsa slugs in 108 and 125 grains, again was told the 125 grains shoot especially well. 

It will be interesting to play around with tuning this thing. I know it’s set up to have a cliff tune which is consistent with its marketing. With the right slug weight and hammer spring tweaks maybe some kind of lower powered but decent curve is possible. 


Anyone know if the AEA semi auto upgrade kits work on this gun as well?  Supposed to work with all HP series guns.

Those smooth sided swaged NSA slugs, for whatever reason, make more power than equivalent weight slugs with minimal surface area touching the bore. That's a long way of saying you will like them. I look forward to your thread about this gun, I could see myself owning one in the future. I was lusting after the PBBA Pro 20, but now I'm into light weight .357 slug guns.

Got it via Bin Tac.  Super helpful. Now to find a good mold.  I was told 120 grain is a good target weight.

If they ever make that in a side lever, I will order one for sure.

Just saw a video of the Max shooting at 177 fpe with a 152 grain slug!  And that I believe is without the power mod i have seen a couple of reviewers discuss.

That's with a really short barrel as well. Imagine what 6" more barrel would be like! I wonder if anyone has seen 200 FPE with mods? That would be a fantastic hunting gun.

I cast 122 grain Accurate molds bullet, very accurate and the molds are great, at least the steel ones are.

Hahaha,....but, but AEA is coming out with a lot of interesting models across a huge spectrum unlike other companies

I favor having a lot of guns from one company for a lot of reasons.

One thing that will keep me away from AEA are the magazines, but with the track record the company has I would not be surprised in the least if they change them.

Which mags are you guys talking about. My .45 Challenger pup mags are aluminum. I have dropped them on the cement floor a few times. Even fully loaded with not a scratch.

Still have the clear plastic cover that you need to rotate like the Marauder mag right ?

...I'm talking about all metal magazines that you rotate the drum, Guess I've been super spoiled by a decade or more of the Evanix magazines that are great and don't stick out one side of the gun like a wart.

Guess I have been lucky. I just counted up all the plastic covered rotating mags that I have. In .22, .25, .45 I have 37. Other than the first mags that came with the Avenger I think it was, I have never had a problem. I never had a different type of mag to compare to.

To me it's not so much if they are problematic or not, I just really dislike them, I dislike the way you have to load them, I dislike the way ammo rattles inside them and most of all I really dislike the way they look in a gun

I would buy a DAR just because of the magazines, I would buy a JTS because of the magazines before I would buy any brand that uses those Marauder style mags

Well what do you know?  FedEx dropping it off three days early and it should be here some time today.  Although my package did pass through the Troutdale fedex vortex so it may end up being delivered next week for all I know. 

It will be nice to move beyond  all the speculation and questionable YouTube videos and see what this thing is all about. 

One thing I would love to know is if the shroud tubes from one of the other AEA guns would be interchangeable with the stock shroud.  The first thing I’m going to be doing is making a moderator for this and it would sure be nice to build one in a tube specifically machined for the brand. 

Honestly half of what I am looking forward to is just the process of experimenting with suppressing the sound on this thing. The tinkering aspect is as pleasurable as the shooting for me.

Spent a fair amount of time  building shrouds and baffles with 3-D printed inserts of various designs for my airforce guns.   The last one I designed was a Tesla valve based moderator and that one was surprisingly effective at higher powers in particular, and it may be what I try first on this  one.

I think there would be a lot of happy people if you can figure out a way to make the factory shroud into a real moderator.

I think I remember that the specifics of making moderators is not allowed here, no one wants to go to court to testify that yes that post was made on the system and this is the IP address where it originated.

Right now I'd be too concerned to even buy a Donny, you never know when the next twist will come and airgun shooshers are prohibited and everyone is a felon. (skating too close to politics, need to move away before the ice breaks).

I'll keep my stuff stock loudness for now, maybe the Bulldog since the Pitbull design can not be used on other guns (making it safer to own???).

AEA is really moving fast and certainly eclipsing some brands, they seem to want to make the others take notice and start making innovations.
