I have been happily casting my .22 cal hunters for the last month or so but.... in spite of me carefully cleaning the molds a couple of times, I'm still getting a whisker or two on pellets every once in a while. What am I doing wrong? I pressure pour from a bottom pour melter.Another question I have, is there a list of some sort that translates the NOE molds nomenclature to plain english (maybe something like NOE moulds translated for dummies) And finally, is there a release schedule for the moulds?Thank you
I could’nt get my Noe 20 gr. mold to bottom pressure pour without fins and bad fill out to start with no matter what I did.I had to resort to pressure pouring with a ladle. After pouring a thousand or so pellets with the ladle method, I tried bottom pressure pour again.Immediately I had great results.... very few fins and about 5% visual culls.Maybe my brass mold just needed to break in a bit? Don’t know, but it works great with bottom pressure pouring now.Like you I had used my mold a couple of months before the dramatic improvement occurred.Lol, i’ve been casting for well over 40 years for rifle and pistol, but this was my first experience pouring pellets..... maybe I needed a break in period instead of the mold ?
First 3 digits are diameter in thousandths next 2 digits are weight in grains rest is mold type like RF RG etc.
There are several, but good luck getting your hands on one. I have personal experience with the 217-30-FN-BJ5 and it's accurate and hard hitting in my Gamo Urban. https://noebulletmolds.com/site/product-category/224/
You only need it if you plan on sizing.
