Although there may be different designs I'm unaware of, the Pic ring bases of mine all have a crossbolt underneath that slots into those transverse grooves so I'm effectively locked into only using those two positions on the Baker mount.

I received the 392s today.
Nice gun except for a couple of scratched where the rear sight was removed, but I knew that going in.
I'll figger out how to touch them up.....

Now, the Williams peep sight.
That critter is SO low that I can't get down far enough to see the target...I have to raise up the butt of the stock on my shoulder.

Looks like a scope mount in in my future.......

Yeah they seem to have designed the cheekpiece height of that synthetic stock to be just in between anything useful! It can be maddening!!

After realizing the irons sights would be too low, I tried a variety of scope rings that were just a hair too high but finally settled on a compromise height that works just okay.

And this was only after cycling through the regular Crosman too-loose/too-wobbly intermounts, the AV too-high intermount, the Mac-1 too-short IA intermount, and now finally settling on the Baker unit with its only real shortfall being the only-2-grooves Picatinny rail (although if using dovetails you have the entire length).

But even this one does still require figuring out creative ring mounting points to get both proper eye relief plus optimum offhand placement space for best pumping geometry.

Today the temps outside had gone down to *only* 108F by the afternoon.

Had some time.

Had some new H&N 18.13-gr Barracuda 18s.

Had my freshly scoped (BugBuster 3-12x32) 392S.

After a few sighters I proceeded to create a sub-half-inch hole with four shots.

But then the low fifth shot happened because I pumped only 7 times instead of 8 from getting all excited about the nice 25-yard group that was developing.

So despite the wind starting to kick up by now, I busted out a nice fancy cardstock target I made with reactive stickers. Shot five more but it did not group as well by this time (bottom two photos w/quarter)...so it must have been the wind.

...by the way at 8 pumps the 18s were traveling at 568fps...

Just hearing 8 pumps makes my arm hurt.... 

The 3 pc. rail came in for Betty Lou's gun was delivered this morning. I mounted it on the gun during my lunch break.
I need to look through my scopes and decide on the best one for it. I think I have a set of low weaver rings like the ones on mine.
Saturday begins our 2 week summer shutdown. With weekends included, that gives me 16 days off.
We'll see some side by side comparisons of these twins.
I've already done the trigger group mods to hers, same as I did mine.
I'm sure hers will need some break in as did mine.

Ordered a 392s direct from Crosman today. Look forward to it joining the meager collection here. Choose it based on several of the discussions here.

Just thought of something.... does the bolt handle clear the scope?

Going to test fit it tomorrow. I expect the bolt handle will need to be heated red hot and bent. Even if it barely cleared, I would bend it anyway.

I test fitted the mounts and happy with them. The bolt barely touches the scope tube. I will have to slightly bend the bolt for clearance.
The rings are machined so the front is 1mm taller than the rear ring with the matching angle to keep the saddles parallel. The height difference keeps the scope from running out of elevation adjustment on a high performance 392.
Going to cut angle on the ring sides to taper down to the AV lower section.

The Buck rail compact scope came in today and wouldn't you know... Betty Lou don't like it.
It has those 'driveway' lines in the reticle. She hates those lines. She says they distract her.
So, tomorrow I'll be doing some scope swapping.

Yeah, I’m contemplating a 397, but I’m also thinking about a Winchester 1977 XS.  If I procrastinate for couple more days the 397 will probably sell out too.  Then the cheaper Winnie will be an easy choice!
I am definitely getting a 362 when they come out but I’ve got my lady feeling sympathetic right now and I need to pick a gun while she is still feeling generous.

You will want a steel breech right out of the gate so you might as well tack that right on top of the price of that gun. Then you'll want to tame the bark... and the list will go on and on.
I learned awhile back.... those lego guns are fun as heck to tinker and build but, you will never get your money back.... not even close.

Yeah I’ve got a .22 steel breech on my 2240.  I will probably swap the the two breeches when I get the 362.
LDC’s are nice but I just don’t need one.  I’ve got two guns that came with them but I don’t see my self spending money on one.  I am notoriously cheap and here I am agonizing about a $200 gun.  Go figure.
