Norma Pellet review

I’ve seen Norma brand pellets advertised online. Not too many reviews of them. Rumors that they were re-branded RWS. I shied away from ordering any. Found some today at Academy Sports. They were a little expensive but still cheaper than ordering and paying shipping. I picked up two tins of 15.9gr .22 cal, Golden Trophy FT’s and one tin of 8.4gr .177 cal, S-Target Match . I tried the S-Target Match pellets in my Crosman 2100 and my Winchester 1100. No joy. Maybe they will do well in my 1377.
The Golden Trophey FT’s shot commendably well in my Crosman 1st model 1400. Nickel sized group at 25 yards. 2.5” groups at the same range from my Xisico XS60 surprised me. Normally the XS60 shoots everything well. But the 5”-6” groups out of my RIM came as a real disappointment. Clearly this pellet is a one trick pony. I’m going to test them in my Hatsan model 125 tomorrow. They shoot well enough out of the 1400 that I think they were worth buying.
The tins weren’t in blister pack or sealed and one tin came open in the bag on the way home. The S-Target Match pellets certainly look like RWS wad cutters. The Golden Trophy FT’s are a flattened dome with a distinct step at the point where the pellet head is at its greatest diameter. It looks rather like mold flash at first but it doesn’t seem to affect accuracy in my Crosman. The other two guns I tried them in slung them all over the place. I’d have blamed the ugly step on the pellet head if they hadn’t shot well in the 1400.
Has anyone else tried these pellets?

The Tins looks similar to the RWS Tins; must be excess stock !
Why not, if RWS had the production overrun of pellets, they sell them off... but at this time I would think lowering the price would make a sales pitch !

I've tried the golden trophy FT in .177. I doubt they're RWS, since there's no comparable RWS pellet to this one, that I know of. They shot really well out of my gun and unusually fast, 840 fps for a 9.1 grain pellet. That's the type of speed i usually get for pellets in the 8.4 grain weight range. Unfortunately I found more lead shavings and lead dust in the tins than any other quality pellets I've bought. There were some other threads about these quite a while back, a search might turn it up. It's too bad really, they had a lot going for them, but just too dirty.

I've been shooting the Golden Trophy FT Heavy 17.6gr. in .22 out of a stock Marauder with pinpoint precision. This is an old, proven design from yesterday (H&N Ram Jet). Wish they sold them in .25.

Norma pellets are indeed made by the same manufacturer as RWS, RUAG Ammotec Gmbh.
I’ve had very good results with the heavy domes in both calibers (the 9.1gr and 17.6gr).
The 8.x and 15.9, not so much.

I bought 4 tins of Norma pellets in different caliber & weight none of my guns like them. Maybe someday I’ll come across something that likes them.

I've had good accuracy w/ the 17.6gr pellets in most of my guns as long as the speed stays in the 800- 850fps range. My BSA R10 SE is gobbling the heavies
up now.
The 15gr I haven't found to be anything
to get excited about.

I suppose one person's accuracy acceptance could vary from another.
I've only used the .177 heavies and they shoot just as good as any others I've tried.
As much so that I will continue to buy them as long as they stay priced as they are.

The 15.9gr and the 17.6gr shot well in several of my guns. Since I started this thread I've tested them in several more guns. The 17.6 are the most accurate pellet in my .22 cal mod 125. The 15.9gr shoot well in my Crosman 1400's, the C362, and the XS60C so I keep a stock of them.
