Guys
I have a question for you all of you YH users. I have both 110 and 220v power in the shop,
Which would be the best Yong Heng air compressor to get, for the above power choices?
How can you positively tell you are getting the REAL Yong Heng compressor?
Is there a model # etc to go by, I want a back up to my SB compressor.............just a CYA thing.
Thanks for the info,
Don

If you have access to 220v I would go with that, it allows for a lower current draw with the same power output. I don't have any experience with YH compressors so I can't say what to look for on that front unfortunately.

220 volt would be the way to go. Less amp draw means less heat and wear.

220 volt. It's just so much more efficient.
I have 220 in a majority of rooms in my house. This is so I can run European items or high draw devices. Depending on what I'm running, if it's low current, I have a separate "portable" breaker box with a plug that has a 5 amp rating. Same as what you'd find in Europe.
While I don't have too many Euro devices, it's nice to be able to use them. I just need to watch for frequency, but a majority of stuff I buy is 50/60 Hz.
I would love to convert my whole house to 220v, but I think that would be against codes. lol

European 220V circuits are not the same as U. S. 220 V circuits. European circuits are single phase, line to ground, 220V. U. S. 220V is line to line, 2 phase power. In addition, the motor of the Yong Heng appears to be a synchronous motor which would mean it's rotation is determined by the frequency of the electricity. Europe is 50 hz (cycles per second) and the U. S. is 60 Hz.
So if you buy a Yong Heng meant for Europe and plug it into a U. S. 220 V circuit you will almost certainly ruin the compressor.
The only thing said in praise of 220V that is true is the current is lower. It is not more efficient, motors do not run better on 220V. Some motors can be rewired for 220V, my table saw can, but I would never mess with it. There is nearly nothing to be gained. My Yong Heng works fine on 15 or 20A 120V circuits in my house. It's current draw is not real high. I run the cooling pump (which has a very low draw) on the same circuit. Tools that use more than 15A and particularly ones which use 20A or a little more may be better rewired for 220V to avoid breakers tripping. But the Yong Heng is not that sort of current draw.
In short, just buy the 120V version and it will work fine for you if you live in the U. S.. Make sure the descriptions and all the pictures which show a side view clearly have the "Yong Heng" painted on the compressor. I got mine from Amazon, partially because they are very good about returns - normally even the postage is free for returns.
