I am so glad to have been told about this forum!
I have an old Crossman 600 CO2 pistol( it must be from the 1960's). I got it from my dad years ago, and used it when I was much younger. It shot .22cal pellet and was deadly accurate and powerful. Countless squirrels, woodpeckers and pop cans met their demise from it.
It sat in a drawer for at least 10 years. I got a wild hair and decided to get some cartridges and go out plinking. Apparently the CO2 cartridges have changed and they don't fit anymore. I contacted Crossman directly and they informed me that indeed the CO2's had changed and my gun was no longer functional. Apparently there were two styles and mine was one of the older models. Is there anyone that has worked on these or developed an aftermarket retro fit? Thanks

I'm a little surprised that Crosman wasn't able to refer you to anyone, or maybe that would be considered bad for business. Hopefully, someone here who can help you will come along. My knowledge of air pistols is, unfortunately, very lacking as of now.

Welcome to the GTA!
Are you sure it's a Crosman 600? I've never heard of a Crosman 600 that used anything other than 12 gram CO2 cartridges. Just for info, the Crosman 600 is a 10 shot semi-automatic pistol. Could it possibly be a Benjamin 422? They were similar to the CR600 but used 8 gram CO2 cartridges.
Regardless of what it is, if it doesn't use 12 gram "powerlets" then it probably uses 8 gram cartridges. Here are some 8 gram carts:
And here are some more:

Ive included a couple of pictures. It does say Crossman 600 on the side and I do have the instruction manual. I was told by Crossman that the screw on the bottom of the chamber is the indicator as to whether it will work or not.

OK, definitely a Crosman 600.
Here is some really good info:
http://www.network54.com/Forum/405945/thread/1142692639/Crosman+600+how+many+different+varations+were+there-
Yours looks like a 2nd variant. The CO2 goes in neck first with the piercing pin being in the valve and not in the cap. It should use standard 12 gram CO2 cartridges.

Yes I agree, it has the open end cap and you put the CO2 in neck first. Ill get some cartridges and see. Is there a "hot rod" shop that works on these?

If current CO2 carts won't work then you may have to look into having a custom valve made. Tim McMurray at Mac1 airguns would be a good person to talk to about your 600.

Dave Gunter is suppose to be very good with the 600 also:

Thank you to everyone! Maybe HotRod was the wrong word. Just looking for someone to get this up and running if possible. Im a taxidermist, very poorly mechanically skilled. If its not dead, I don't know how to work on it. So need to find the air gun guru..

I have a Crosman 600, it jams once in a while.
Daisy .22 precision wad cutters are a good pellet for the gun.
Nothing pointed or domed.
There is no cooler gun in the airpistol universe.

+1 for what 3X4 said.
Precision pellet is a great business to deal with.
They sent me a part for my 600 in like 3 days.

I had one weird day at the range. My fancy guns, I couldn't shoot straight but the 600 was giving me bulls eyes.
There is something powerful about having the next pellet in the breech as soon as you fire. You don't have to re aim the gun just make a small correction and the 2nd shot is in the bull!
I didn't save the targets... I wasn't shooting for the GTA matches. I was using the Shoot 'N See targets.
They are like candy for my eyes when shooting
