Crosman 760 and the backyard

I have rented a summer house with some small property around it, where I will stay with my wife, my teens and some friends for a good week.

Time for some family fun ! So I am thinking to buy a 760 to attack some soup and beer cans whenever we can.

I have 2 questions, also since I am not familiar at all shooting BB's...

First, is the 760 backyard friendly ?
Secondly, I read it is recommnded to wear safety glasses when shooting BB's - you agree ?

I'd say yes and yes.

The 760 is a lightweight gun, and you can simply pump it more/less depending on your circumstances. It's a solid 'low-medium' to 'medium' as far as noise goes.

BBs are very likely to ricochet if you aren't using a trap. You'll be amazed at how far, and fast, they'll go in random directions. There's been some recent threads about BBs and broken windows.

I have many 760 models, They can be backyard friendly with 3 to 5 pumps, but they can also reach out with more pumps.
Eye protection should be worn with BB's and pellets. Also make sure you are allowed to shoot BB guns at the rental.

The 760 will shoot pellets also if you choose.

A rifled barrel and pellets will get you better accuracy. The 760 is smooth bore, not rifled.

I do have a low powered 5fpe-ish Diana Panther 21 .177 call with a nice rifled bore shooting bullseye with RWS pellets at 20 yards all day long...

Though I don't want to get this little gem exposed to "family fun" If you know what I mean. Hence my choice for the 760. Also to keep it even more low powered with maybe shooting on 3-4 pumps. But true, you can shoot with pellets as well. Though low powered, pellets and short distances sometimes still give me ricochets sometimes too. Okay, I'll take eye protection with us.

I don't think the 760 will need a TKO at 4 pumps.
Not to mention the cost added to a 35.00 dollar gun.

I was thinking of picking up a pack or two. I have the .177 round lead balls, and they work pretty well in the BB magazine.

Aw, C'mon,   I've seen (and done) some high priced scopes on some of these 760's and 880's!

I was about to say I don't even own a BB rifle then remembered somewhere in my mess I have a Red Ryder. Never tried them but they come to mind any time someone mentions concerns over ricochets.

Now...where did I stick the Ryder........

If 4 pumps equals about the noise level of a 1077, I would be pretty okay I think.

From what I remember from shooting the 1077 once, it was not too loud.

  The 1077 is not that loud, and I put a Geo LDC on it!

(Most of my shooting is indoors, at this time).
