Is the Avenger Poppet the Same as the Nova Liberty - Are They Interchangable ?

Did anyone verify that these are the new ones made of Delrin? Tyler said he didn't know if the ones they had were the newest style made of Delrin or if they were still new /old stock.

When I get it I'll post pics so you guys can see details.

Along with details, if you would please, would it be possible to get dimensions?  I would like to make a spare to have on hand if and when mine fails.  My nephew has a place off Los Coches Rd.  Used to do a bit of rabbit hunting up in those hills.

Here is a pic of the new poppet I received from Pyramid Air while waiting on Duy's poppet ----  (I'm sure Duy's will be much better but wanted more back ups as I have a few of these rifles !!)

Contact area, it is made of a different material for sure from the original, it is much, much, much harder and it is a milky white color, it may be Delrin, but it is definitely not a soft urethane type material.

The Avenger right from the get-go had a wider seat than the Liberty, glad to hear that the replacement from PA is the updated material for those looking for a replacement for the original one. I can't revert back as Duy modified my valve, very happy with it but I know many others here still have them that are the original ones.

Either way, I think this is a pretty significant move by Air Venturi/Nova Vista.  I really wanted to buy an Avenger, but held off because I wasn't sure if these guns were going to be as problematic as the Liberty.  Once I watched Stephen's teardown video and saw they were still using the same poppets from the Liberty, I decided I wasn't going to buy one after having several leaky guns from ATI.  I'm sure there are others who feel the same way.

When I ordered one over a year ago they sent it with a new valve spring, but then it was still the same crappy material. Better poppet now but maybe the spring is being sold separately, or not at all.

DUY has changed his option to poppet and valve  due to sealing issues with the harder poppet materiel he uses, that requires a precision fit. AFAIK

 BTW I received 2 avenger poppets from Pyramid Air a week ago and have not had a chance to open the shipping package to inxpect yet LOL

I completely recommend machining the valve to accept the poppet and seal with the OD of the poppet like the pictures below. even the valves i made for the avengers are counter sunk like that.

i have never had failures to seal with this style. i do have a couple people complain the oem style poppet leaks after a while. I dont know what the reasons are, could be the raised lips on the valve is not perfect. could be the face of the poppet is too hard and wont seal with the raised lip easily. could be a bad burnishing job.

anyone whos ever got a Peek poppet from me are more than welcome to send in their valve and poppet set for a valve mod for a "perfect" seal.

Slightly off topic, but does anybody know how to determine mfg date from the serial #s? (Liberty) Once mr DC has my stuff done I may keep the old one as a backup or for a ground up build down the line...Duy are the stock valve bodies made well enough to be modded if I ever had the need or just to keep around the parts pile? Are you using the same stem dimensions, I'd imagine the stem seating in the chamfer may slightly affect the amount of distance to the hammer face (not a problem in my case but curious nonetheless)

The poppet in the middle is the one that came a couple days ago from PA, I don't think it's an improved poppet like the one that Wil got, I did poke at it with a sharpened toothpick but it doesn't seem to be any harder than the original that came with my Liberty, the one on the left came from my Avenger and the one on the right is from my Liberty.  I have duy peek poppets in both my Liberty and Avenger now, I'll put the new poppet(middle) on my Freedom and hope for the best

I can only assume the peek poppets are easier to crack? Have you played with hammer strike at all?
