Need a nice springer to complement the TX200 for shooting at 35Y max

I’m spending a lot of time shooting in my backyard at 35Y.
These days the only gun that I’m shooting is a TX200 with a Vortek PG3 steel kit. The kit dropped the energy from 14 FPE to 9-10 FPE with JSB 8.44 gr but it’s very accurate and easy to cock. I’m also waiting for TBT kit to get here to try with the factory spring.

I do have a few PCPs with tanks and a compressor but almost don’t shoot them in the backyard. My FX Dream Tac will put pellet on pellet at 30Y with little effort and it gets boring very quickly. I find shooting a springer much more entertaining and relaxing.

I’m now looking to buy a second nice springer to complement the TX200.
That springer will be used to only to shoot paper at 35Y max from a rest (no hunting).
I have a few models in mind like the HW95 or even the HW30S.
I’m also thinking about a Diana 54/56 for its recoilless mechanism. But I feel like it might be too much of gun for 35Y (too hard to cock and loud)

Keep in mind that I'm in the USA so the availability of some models might be an issue.

Our two HW30s do well out to 30 yards, maybe 35 yards when the wind is right. In that light class of HW, I think the HW50 would be a little better choice for 35 yard work. Does have the edge when I shoot past 30 yards. If you like something a bit more retro, take a look at the 35E.

Certainly van't go wrong with the HW95. Love ours in 20. Very comfy and easy gun to shoot without going to the heavier HW under levers. Truly a great all around springer.

If you don't mind the weight and the power, our blue lam HW97 is our most consistent shooting HW from the bench.

Of course, if you like the TX, you might try one of the other AAs. Our TX HC actually shoots more consistently than our standard TX, though it is definitely harder to cock. Has a different balance and handling than the TX 200, so you won't be completely duplicating your TX 200. Issue on AA underlevers right now is getting one, though. HWs are definitely more available.

HW77/97 isn’t in stock anywhere and will probably be a little redundant with the TX200.
I’m not sure what’s the difference between the HW95 and 98. I don’t really care for the stock on the 98 and I’m not sure if the heavy barrel adds any accuracy.
Regarding the HW50 I’ve read that the cocking is a little hard compared to the delivered power.
Lastly would you go with 0.177 or 0.22? I suppose 0.177 but just wanted to confirm.

For paper or much of anything else at fifty yards or less I much prefer .177.  as far as a recommendation for something other than the TX 200 it would be nice to know if you want another under lever, a break barrel, or a side lever.  Budget could be an issue, too.  As far as the Diana 54, my 48 is happy at whatever range I choose and the 54 is the same basic engine.  My 48 is in .177 and stock power.  You could go for a lighter spring in a 54 and it might fit right in there with what you're after.  From the factory cocking would be harder than your TX 200 but they do get a bit better after a hundred shots or so.

I have a couple concerns with the Diana vs the Weihrauch. Fit and finish and trigger.

The other thing is that I don't want a gun that is louder than a factory TX200.
I'm also thinking I'd rather go with a break barrel but at the same time I don't want to give up any accuracy.

As far as budget goes, I'd rather not fix myself a limit. Worse case scenario, I'll delay the purchase until I have enough funds.

As for accuracy of break barrel versus under lever, it's mostly theoretical. I've shot some of my best 30 yard groups with HW and FWB break barrels. As long as you stay with a quality break barrel, accuracy won't be an issue.

As for caliber, that's always a personal call, but for us, 177 is our default caliber since we are strictly target shooters. We recently added a couple of 20 cal HW break barrels, since we shoot 20 cal in our Sheridans, anyway.

After they sewed the tip of my finger back on...been kind of bias against side levers.  Malfunction still my fault (fouled the anti-bear trap device AND didn't keep my cocking hand on the side lever)...but I’ve stayed away from them.

(Side light #1: was still some blood flow as the tip of my finger dangled….it’s on and working, but numb.)

(Side lite #2: How many times have we watched vids where the shooter let the side lever/underlever/ or break barrel just “dangle” while they loaded a pellet.  STOP THAT.)

As it is, will cock a side leaver and hold onto it while I load with my “stupid” hand…..cock an underlever and hold onto it while I load with my “smart hand”….cock a break barrel and load it with my “smart” hand.

(Side light #3: the shooting world hates left handed people.)

Being a righty, bet I would like a side leaver on the LEFT side  in a right handed stock (so I could hold onto it and load the pellet with my right hand).

Haven’t found an accuracy penalty with a break barrel.  Logically, they should wear over time….but it’s a long-long time and we make adjustments along the way.  Likely the lock up wears slower than the pivot/barrel shims.

Definitely a nice package for your needs. Whether or not they will ship it to you is different story. I think it depends on whether or not the moderator is permanently attached. You'd have to check with Krale. If they will ship it, I'd jump on it if I were you.

If you don’t own a Weihrauch you owe it to yourself to at least try one. The triggers alone make any of them worth it. I would chose something in the 12 fpe  range for that 35 yard range. No need for anything more powerful. Either a 35E or 50S would be my first choices. If you plan on hunting of any kind , the 95/85 /98 would be at the top of the list.

It seems that I'm leaning toward a Weihrauch

The model that is mostly being recommended here seems to be the model 35 (I'm still on the fence on the 35 vs 95 vs 98).

Now if you get the 35, would you get the 35K with the included silencer or the 35E with a nice walnut stock (both are similarly priced).
I guess the question is how much a silencer is actually needed on a 35 model.
