I have found the best slug for Huben 2020 to be VN 28.5gr. Regulator set to about 165bar. Power wheel adjusted to 1040fps. Good for 38 shots. Super accurate and devastating on game. The NSA 36.2gr are not good in the 2020. They changed the barrel specs. Actually I don't think NSA even offers them anymore.
Congrats on your Huben Paul. You lucked out that yours likes the 18 gr. I've tried mine on several different speeds and can't get it to group to suit me. But she loves the 25 grain redesigns at 920 fps.Had a real windy day and shot a few groups but decided to stay at my zero of 28 yds because of the wind.I shot two five shot groups with 4 different pups and they all held their own pretty good. Saved the Huben for last and it hung right in there with the rest of em. Was shooting 18 grain in the first three pups and of course the 25 RD's in the .22 Huben. And shot a thumbnail size five shot group with the Huben at 46 yds on a rusty piece of metal.
Yeah my reg is set at 135 BAR now and Kelly was testing it in his shop at that setting before shipping it out - so at zero clicks the Crosman 14.3gr crawled out the barrel at 331 fps at first, then climbing to 624 as it reached the 10-click setting. So it may be doable, although for consistency's sake I would indeed drop the reg down to maybe 1500 psi as you suggest and go up a click or three...and get several hundred shots per fill then, I would guess...
I did not see anything that mentioned the Huben on NSA's website, I had also e-mailed Nick to see what his recommendation was and he never mentioned anything about any special Huben slugs either. I should have the rest of my samples next week and will do some testing.

The heavy monsters shoot well probably the best out of that gun. The H&N barracudas shoot well also. I did find however the gun did not like to shoot anything slow. Faster the better and nothing light.
VN is short for Varmint Knockers. The 28.5gr is the best hands down in the 2020 version Huben, and probably 2021 as I don't think the barrel has changed. For earlier model Hubens, NSA made a slug for that barrel at 36gr. This slug performed poorly in the newer Huben barrels. As for pellets in 22cal, both JSB 25gr and 34gr are good contenders. Haven't tested any lighter weights. After initial testing, all my Huben eats is the VN 28.5gr. Sure it's a lil pricier then other options but it hits the target each and every time packing a whallop.
Hey Paul congrats on the new gun those look like they would be so much fun to shoot. I am not sure I understand the fixed mag though. Can you index when you load so you can just shoot five at a time? Great video thanks for sharing.Wes
Paul, congrats on your Huben. Fun guns for sure. I've owned a lot of good guns over the years and the Huben is my favorite gun I've ever owned. I've rebuilt and tuned several of them as we have about 10 or more in the local area. Some are picky with pellets but I have one that shoots just about anything I put in it. The best upgrade I've done is add a Huma reg. It is so much more consistent and at 110 bar I can shoot the Crosmans at 350 fps for barn shooting and JSB RD at 950 just by using the powerwheel..Love the Huben

Shoot the new JSB Knock-outs, I'd get 3 consistent shots at around 970 fps, and then one at 909 fps, then it would be back at 970 fps for a couple more shots. How difficult is the removal of the stock regulator and the installation of the Huma reg?
