Talked with Crosman at Shot.Show Jan 2020 about the stock, and they seemed unaware of any issue with the stock. By now, of course, they must know. My take is that after having a zillion manufactured to those spec’s, it’s hard to change course, at least in the short term. It will take time to get those thru the system before more ergonomic stocks become available. Hopefully Crosman will stick with the 392/7 platform and not dump it like they did the 20 cal.

Apparently the people at Crosman have never shouldered one of their 392s. You'd think at least
one
person in D&R or marketing would have before they released the 392 for sale.

I bet folks who plan to scope it aren't complaining.
Kinda hard to please everyone. Adding an adjustable cheek riser most likely would have affected the price.

The new action can be dropped right in an older model wood stock. See pic within the blog.

Has anyone attempted to cut/fill/reshape the synthetic stock? If someone has a good filler material to use, I'll do mine in a heartbeat. Just don't know how to go about it. Thought of using fiberglass screen and epoxy or just cutting cheek riser off, filling stock with epoxy and adding a wood riser sanded and shaped to contours of the stock, keeping low enough to use open sights.

I did switch stocks.
I had an older 392 wood stock with a Baker scope mount on it.
Bought a new 392 synthetic stock and put a peep sight on it.
I switched stocks because the Baker mount grub screws had made marks on top of the brass receiver.
I had to drill the wood front handle to knock out the pins.
I filled the holes afterward with 4 SS screws counter sunk to be smooth.

I cannot call it a “ Classic Pumper,” anymore.

They might sound like a lot of work till you realize you only need 3-4 pumps for plinking.

Me either, and I consider the daisy 880 to be a classic pumper.
Even if it's not wood and metal it has the look of it.
