I recently received 2 Daisy 922's for repair.
It was kind of assumed that they needed seal kits or exhaust valves.
No, and No, X 2
These rifles had previously been sent to a well-known Daisy 880 "expert."
880, maybe. 922, nope.
922 #1 was a barrel to breech clamp style....very early.
The chamber of the barrel was protruding into the loading port...
The seal was OK, but the barrel was not rotated correctly nor positioned properly for the transfer port to align with that of the valve.
Simple fix: loosen clamp, reposition barrel, tighten clamp.
EZ Peazy.
5 pumps: BANG !
922 #2 was a bit more involved.
It had the valve assy w/the external O-ring.
The previous "repair shop: had used an O-ring that was 1 size too large;
The pump tube is not a full circle at the valve end...it has a slot about 3/8" wide where it indexes on the valve assy.
When the pump tube was installed, the tube bunched the O-ring up in that slot, and pinched it when forced onto the home position.
Result: no seal.......
So, I replaced an O-ring costing maybe $.05 and she's good as new!
5 pumps: BANG !
I don't remember how much was spent with the prior shop.
I know the pump/piston rods were replaced with the new style assemblies, which work, but only about 95%
and seals were replaced with the expensive old style seal kits this other place sells.
Too bad $$$spent with the other guy was all for naught cuz neither gun worked......
They BOTH do now........

You can lead a man to water, but you can't keep him from urinating in it.
